10 / 10 - Forza Horizon 4
Sep 24, 2018

The most ambitious and risk taking Forza game yet. Built upon the previous game, Forza Horizon 4 take us to a virtual Britain and explores the concept of Games as Service with a dynamic and surprising racing game that never looks the same every time we play it. It’s beautiful, plays fantastic and it has one of the most complete and beautiful garages in the world.

10 / 10.0 - God of War

Half-sequel, half-reboot. The return of Kratos comes with a new sidekick, in a new setting, in a new generation and with a new perspective. It’s one of the riskiest reboots in recent history for an high caliber franchise, full of ambition, that sets a new standard in narrative and action games. Without any doubt, one of the best games of the generation.

Nintendo Switch received the definitive Super Smash Bros. experience. Ultimate it’s quite literally the final form of this franchise with every character, every level and with deep mechanics, striking visuals, an absurd amount of game modes and all the fun of the previous games. After 20 years, this Nintendo mega-mashup still feels fresh.

10 / 10 - Devil May Cry 5
Mar 6, 2019

Devil May Cry 5 looks, plays and sounds as pitch-perfect as its bombastic soundtrack. It nails pretty much everything in every department. The combat is super satisfying, with a deep list of skills, abilities and attacks; the story is cheesy but engaging and full of twists; and it is one of the most visually impressive games of this year so far.

It took over 20 years, but Ys finally came to the fore. Lacrimosa of Dana is an excellent action RPG with a clever focus on survival that, unfortunately, it can't keep up to its completion. The Switch version has its problems, namely the resolution, but when we see it moving, without frame breaks and with a solid performance, we understand how its quality was not harmed. Ys VIII is essential for all fans of the genre.

“Amazing Spider-Man” would be a fitting name for this PlayStation exclusive. Fantastic visuals, an engaging and emotional story, a living breathing virtual New York city and the powers and abilities of one of the most popular Avengers, makes this game one of the best of the year.

Dragon Quest XI is not an RPG for everyone. It's a game that lives on its legacy and refuses to evolve with the genre, preferring to slow down its gameplay rather than completely transform it. If turn-based combat isn't your thing, Dragon Quest XI won't change your mind, but if you want a great RPG, with a charisma rarely found in the genre, and explore one of the most vibrant worlds we find on consoles, this is the game for you.

Pokémon: Let’s Go is an absolute delight. It may not be the next big step in the franchise, but it’s the perfect remake that the fans would hope for, with easy to play mechanics, a charming aesthetic and all the nostalgia. A surprisingly solid game that can be played by everyone until we catch them all.

It is, without surprises, survival horror in its pure state. The remake of Resident Evil 2 is everything the fans would hope for a current-gen RE. It takes all the core concepts of the original and twists them with a new fresh take and some mechanics from the also excellent Resident Evil 7. Lots of jump scares, great action, stunning visuals and a lot of content to explore and replay.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses is the evolution the series needed, a tour de force that manages to gives a more accessible adventure without losing it’s soul. The combat is fantastic, strategic and unforgiven if you’re not prepared; but it’s the social part and expansiveness of it’s mechanics that keeps shining, even after 70 or 80 hours of gameplay. If you love the genre, this is a must buy.

9 / 10 - Gears 5
Sep 8, 2019

Gears 5 could have been more of the same. And somehow that’s exactly what it is. But it’s also proud and secure enough to take some interesting risks that made it the best of the series.

9 / 10 - Blasphemous
Sep 19, 2019

It's hard, it's gory and has some of the best classic gameplay mechanics in it's genre. It's so well crafted, it's difficult to stay indiferent to it.

Detroit: Become Human feels like the best Quantic Dream has ever put in all of their games. It is indeed an interactive movie, with quick time events as dialogue choices, but at every scene it makes us feel on the edge of our seat, hoping for the best of this cast of robotic characters and the world they live in.

8 / 10 - Darkwood
Jun 12, 2019

Darkwood is not a game for everyone – and that's perfect. As a survival horror game, it's one of the tensest and scariest experiences I've encountered. There is a very European soul in here, a desperation and acceptance of death that we can only see in eastern productions, giving us a hard look at something different, but equally beautiful.
