STARBITES is a new sci-fi turn-based RPG that puts players in the shoes of Lukida, a young salvager wanting to make her dream of exploring the cosmos a reality. Players are treated to a fun turn-based combat system with some unique twists, a compelling story with an emotive cast of characters, and worldbuilding that makes players want to learn more about the setting of Bitter. The performance drawbacks on Switch and the repetitive overworld exploration hold STARBITES back from its full potential, however.

Clockwork Ambrosia is a decent Metroidvania with a really good gun customization feature. It's an indie project that's been in the works for 15 years now, since the team couldn't work full-time on it. A good game for fans of the genre, but one that won't really surprise you. It's a perfect title to play on the go, but it doesn't play ball with non-Windows systems.

Mixtape is a beautiful love letter to music and friendship. The narrative is handled really well; in spite of its similarities to other coming-of-age stories, the characters are realized fantastically thanks to great dialogue and voice acting, and the music choices are incredible. While the gameplay is limited, the mechanics are peppered throughout to perfectly accompany the respective story beat. Even though the visuals are lacking on the Switch 2, Mixtape is still a phenomenal experience and an easy recommendation.

Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes is a fantastic blend of both rougelite and RTS gameplay. Developers Alt Shift made a game that is packed to the brim with content, while at the same time not feeling too overwhelming. Suffering only slightly from the difficulty, this is an experience worth jumping into.

Directive 8020 is a step in the right direction for The Dark Pictures, giving its choices more weight, its cast stronger performances, and its horror more room to breathe. While the later episodes drag and a few clichés and visual issues hold it back, the journey aboard the Cassiopeia is still worthwhile.

SAROS is a fantastic experience from beginning to end. The narrative delivers a brilliant cosmic horror narrative with a great cast of characters, brilliant performances, a rich and intriguing world, and incredible representation thanks to a great South Asian protagonist. Further, the gameplay is a non-stop thrill ride throughout, that never feels too difficult despite the occasional spike in challenge. While there are some issues with the post-game and build options, this is a must-play for any PlayStation 5 owners and an early game of the year contender.

Magical Princess' story and characters may not be particularly memorable, but the surprising amount of depth makes the game a shockingly great time. Featuring tons of replayability and a reasonable price tag, Magical Princess an easy recommendation for fans of life simulation titles.

The Nintendo Switch 2 version of Warframe gives Nintendo fans an optimized and smooth upgrade to one of the best sci-fi shooters available today. Although you won't be spending too much time playing Warframe on Switch 2's short battery life, it offers a mostly steady 60 FPS experience with crisp visuals. Warframe is full of action and content for free, and those who get hooked can spend hundreds of hours locked in with their Warframes.

World Heroes Perfect is a fantastic time that blends the quick, high-paced action with the game's original artwork. However, the game falls short in small areas like the sluggish menu, lack of customization, and bland new art style that falls short of the original. It's not a perfect experience, but it is close to one.

Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss had me interested near the start with a unique premise and interesting deduction-based puzzle solving. Eventually, though, the tedious puzzles, lack of any real horror, and forgettable plot made me dread playing through it. By the time the credits rolled, I felt empty instead of satisfied.

Invincible VS is a fantastic experience, regardless of whether or not you're a fan of the fighting game genre and the original series. While the limited roster and bare bones story mode are disappointing, the satisfying gameplay, rich mechanical systems, numerous single-player and multiplayer options, and brilliant netcode will hook you right from the start. I can't wait to see what this game's future brings.

Pragmata dreams big with inventive hacking-shooting gameplay, and Capcom has hit a home run. Hugh and Diana's journey across the moon is one to remember, with an excellent gameplay system that never fails to be exciting. While I wish Pragmata spent more time developing its central relationship, that shortcoming never comes close to dulling what is otherwise one of Capcom’s most inventive and exciting new releases in years.

Legacy of Kain: Defiance Remastered is a great re-release for a game that has aged quite poorly. You can now toggle a third-person perspective instead of the original fixed-camera, yet there are still major issues with the combat and some significant glitches scattered throughout the game. That said, the new quality-of-life features and the addition of cut content and lost media make this a must-buy for fans of the franchise, regardless of any shortcomings.

Apopia: Sugar Coated Tale is a charming yet surprisingly dark adventure well worth experiencing. While the gameplay occasionally slips with backtracking, Mai's journey is one I'm very glad to have experienced.

Esoteric Ebb may borrow heavily from some of the greatest games in its genre, but it takes what it borrows and shapes it, creating something that still feels unique and fresh in its own right.

My Hero Academia: All's Justice is, at times, Byking's best entry in the series, taking some ambitious swings that don't always hit. The story mode, while frustrating at times, is servicable, and there are a few modes worth checking out. Unfortunately, limitations with the Rising system, a lack of stages, and the clunkiness of Team-Up Mission can leave you with a sour taste. All's Justice is a fun time for existing fans, but it makes no sense for a newcomer to start here.

The Disney Afternoon Collection is a solid collection of classic games from the Disney Afternoon television block. The additions are great too, from modern quality-of-life updates, galleries for the art and music, along with time attack and boss rush modes. Even if you don't like all the games like me, there is still a lot of good here, even if you end up mainly playing DuckTales, like me.

Crisol: Theater of Idols is a deeply polarizing game. While the game utilizes Spanish folklore to create a fantastic story with great characters, and is filled with fun mechanics that make its gunplay feel great, the issues with the frame rate, repetitive exploration, and lack of tension are enough to undermine the overall experience. As such, while I definitely recommend playing the game for yourself, it's not one I'll be replaying any time soon.

God of War Sons of Sparta unfortunately failed to make me feel anything at all. The combat is sterile and not particularly deep, the Metroidvania elements are paint-by-numbers boring, and the story, while sometimes impactful, doesn't add much to the series lore in any interesting ways. I really don't know who this game was made for.

Demon Tides manages to balance both style and substance extremely well. While there are some minor issues with the presentation, controls, and exploration, the expressive character designs, charming narrative, fantastic soundtrack, and gameplay that emphasizes player choice above all else are enough to offset these issues. This is a great, must-play 3D platformer, regardless of your interest in the genre.
