As a bullet hell first-person shooter, Luna Abyss might not achieve its full potential, but it accomplishes everything it sets out to do well enough. A haunting world and an evasive combat dance results in one of the most creatively bold shooters in recent years.
Magical Princess' story and characters may not be particularly memorable, but the surprising amount of depth makes the game a shockingly great time. Featuring tons of replayability and a reasonable price tag, Magical Princess an easy recommendation for fans of life simulation titles.
Shinonome Abyss: The Maiden Exorcist is a diamond in the rough. It's full of clever ideas and dripping with plenty of spooky atmosphere, but it's hard to say that it ever truly achieves excellence. Despite that, players who like mystery dungeon RPGs will likely have fun here.
OPUS: Prism Peak largely succeeds in delivering an emotional mid-life crisis tale. A few areas of the game lack in polish, but the art style has an undeniable charm. Although the story can be predictable, there's a deeply emotional narrative in OPUS: Prism Peak, and the game reminds players about how important photography can be.
With a simple yet effective progression system, a power fantasy combat loop, and passionate attention to detail, Mouse P.I. For Hire is easily one of the best titles of 2026. It reminds me of just how much joy a single-player first-person shooter can bring when it fires on all cylinders.
Rushing Beat X: Return of Brawl Brothers can be an absolute joy to play when everything comes together. Unfortunately, that often doesn't happen due to the game's lack of polish and features that other beat 'em ups have. The clunky gameplay can also be another barrier in what could have been a great action game.
Planet of Lana II: Children of the Leaf is an auditory and visual masterpiece. The clash of machine and nature may be an old trope, but it results in a beautiful aesthetic and soundscape. As for the gameplay, the puzzle-solving is passable, but the lack of replayability may turn some away.
Mewgenics is an incredibly ambitious project for a small development team. Fortunately, it more than delivers. This is a must-buy for roguelite fans.
MIO: Memories in Orbit leaves a strong first impression and continues to deliver quality content throughout, despite a few questionable design choices here and there. Some clever level design, a fantastic soundtrack, and a gorgeous art style make the entire experience worthwhile.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is proof that less is sometimes more. There is very little in the way between the player and the game's content, making for a refreshing pick-up-and-play experience that will satisfy players of all ages and skill levels. CrossWorlds is a kart racer that deeply understands the appeal of the genre and manages to finish in first place because of that.
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is a shockingly great time. Fans of hardcore action RPGs won't want to miss out on this one. Every aspect of the game has been made with clear passion on display.
This would be one of the best examples of a remaster done right if it weren't for the severe technical issues plaguing this release. Nevertheless, Oblivion still holds up as an amazingly engaging role-playing experience all these years later. I simply can't get enough.
The First Berserker: Khazan is the best Soulslike I've played since Lies of P. The game can sometimes overstay its welcome, but the excellent combat, boss fights, and stellar presentation more than makeup for that. If you're hungry for a new hardcore action RPG, Khazan is the game to pick up.
Rise of the Ronin may feature a formulaic open-world structure, but it's still an amazing action RPG despite that. Unfortunately, your mileage with the PC port may vary, so proceed with caution.
Ever 17: The Out of Infinity is a great improvement over its predecessor, Never 7, making for a much more memorable experience. It's still nowhere near perfect, but it should still be an enjoyable read for most visual novel fans.
Never 7: The End of Infinity still has some charm all these years later, but perhaps it hasn't aged so gracefully. Messy pacing makes what would be a relaxing experience an often tedious one. Fans of classic visual novels and anime who don't mind the older aesthetic and simplistic story could have a great time, however.
Freedom Wars Remastered doesn't bring many surprises to the table, but it's great to see a Vita cult classic find its way to current platforms. While it is beginning to show its age, this still holds up as an enjoyable title to play in 2025.
Sonic X Shadow Generations delivers all the thrills you could hope for with almost none of the drawbacks. This is one of the most easily accessible and enjoyable 3D entries in the series, making it a must-play for anyone who's interested. I hope this is the standard for the series going forward.
As it stands, Dragon's Dogma 2 is a good action RPG with some thrilling monster combat. However, it could be so much more. Technical issues and some poor design choices hold back what could've been a truly fantastic game. There's still hope for it to become that, but this never should've been a concern in the first place.
