Trinity Trigger is a simple game with a simple goal: Recreate the feeling of classic 90s RPGs. It's simple, for better and for worse. Level design, presentation, and ambition mostly suffer. However, the simplicity makes the gameplay and story really satisfying in a familiar way. In such a way that feels like catching up with an old friend. It's familiar but some things are new and different. You get a rush of nostalgia and pure enjoyment during your journey through Trinitia.

The Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster Series is a great set of remasters. They strongly preserve the 35-year-long legacy of Final Fantasy with resounding success. These remasters elicit the retro feel of these classic games while providing a bevy of accessibility options and extras. The new Boosters and font that were specially made for the console releases of these games are welcome additions especially. Extra content from prior releases may be missing, but the beautiful re-arranged soundtracks, Quality of Life features, and vibrant redrawn graphics do an excellent job of making up for the loss of admittedly mediocre, tacked-on content. Even underneath the modern bells, whistles, and shinier coat of paint, these are still the classic games you know and love; retaining their classic charm and flaws. As individual games, your mileage may vary, but as a retro collection, you can’t go much higher. What could go lower, however, is the price.

Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection preserves the legacy of this Mega Man series well. These classic games still hold up and this collection keeps every aspect of the games intact; even if some of those aspects haven't aged well. Oodles of extras tie it all together to make a fine addition to any Mega Man fan's collection!

Rally Adventure is a fun ride but doesn't bring much new to the table. If you simply want more Forza Horizon 5, this DLC will likely suffice. However, if you are looking for something that will shake up the formula a bit more, this expansion may leave you feeling underwhelmed.

Cereza and the Lost Demon is true Bayonetta at its core. The fresh take on the beloved series was a true joy to experience from beginning to end. With the series having yet to do much in a while, it might be precisely what the series needed to bring in new fans and bring back old ones.

Poignant but padded, ONI: Road to be the Mightiest Oni has charming art, beautiful music, and simple but fun gameplay. But for its every pro, there are two cons. Performance problems and a screen filter hinder the game's visual presentation, the overuse of vocal tracks diminishes their impact, and the too-many missions filled with spongey enemies lead to the combat feeling monotonous. There's a lot of heart and style here, but they're obfuscated by unfortunate design.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure is a beautiful turn-based RPG that encapsulates what makes Falcom's Trails series so great. The Special Support Section proves to be one of the most memorable casts of characters in gaming today. Addicting gameplay, an enormous offering of content, and a host of new features make this one of the best entries in the whole series.

The story may be somewhat forgettable, and the voice acting is questionable, but Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is a fantastic hardcore action RPG that might qualify as game-of-the-year material. I would experience it all again in a heartbeat. This is an easy recommendation for fans of hardcore action RPGs. A tight pace and superb combat make sure the game doesn't feel dull at nearly any point.

"Deluxe", indeed. Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe remasters and expands one of the tightest controlling and most power-packed platformers in the series into a polished package of Kirby content. While the main story gets off to a slow start, both plot and gameplay-wise, it builds into something quite special and is capped off with the fresh and fun new Magolor Epilogue chapter.

Wanted: Dead is as befuddling as it is bloody. Players will find the plot of Soliel's slasher/shooter hybrid varying levels of coherent depending on their interpretation. What's undeniable is the fun to be had in its streamlined slaughter. Come for the demanding and gory action gameplay, and stay for the odd voice performances, anime flashbacks, and karaoke with Stefanie Joosten. It's sometimes frustrating, often satisfying, and almost always janky and weird; I can't stop thinking about it.

Dead Space rigorously reanimates gaming's best sci-fi horror game. It's clear EA Motive looked at the original title both through the lens of adoring fans as well as talented developers. They keep what worked, morph what didn't, and unlike the game's protagonist, cut off almost nothing. The USG Ishimura has never been more immersive. Only minor missteps keep it from perfection, but not from being an absolutely stunning makeover, and a must-play experience.

While the latest entry in the Need for Speed franchise is capable of presenting some great arcade racing thrills, NFS Unbound is an uneven experience that can often leave players feeling disappointed. Some may be able to overlook its flaws and enjoy what the game does well, but it still lives in the shadows of the best entries in the series. This paints a worrying picture for a franchise that already has been struggling to reclaim its glory days for years now.
