Resident Evil 3 is exactly what I hoped for after the stellar re-imagining of RE2. I have seen criticism that the game is too short, but given that YouTube has countless RE2 speed runs hovering around the 50 minute mark, it feels like a stretch. Plus, if you are hurting for content there is an entire online game attached.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a masterpiece. I have no doubt that it would be a smash hit no matter when it released, but coming just as the world went into a lockdown has played to it’s advantage also. It is giving people a routine when they otherwise wouldn’t have one and honestly being ill myself over the last week, it has been a life saver. The greatest compliment I can give it is that earlier tonight the sequel to my favourite game of all time (Last of Us) was delayed and my first thought was; “More time for Animal Crossing”.
Hidden Through Time is a solid game that when you factor in the creation suite is good bang for your buck. It has a nice art style and is good wholesome family content at a time when that is in high demand.
Gigantosaurus: The Game is something that is likely to appeal to gamers aged seven and below. If you have a youngster that is just starting to dabble in computers this is the best entry level title I have seen since Paw Patrol: On A Roll and it comes packing much more content
id Software and Bethesda really have something special on their hands here. Games divide opinion, which is natural. So when I tell you that I haven’t heard a single person say they aren’t enjoying DOOM Eternal, that’s probably one of the biggest compliments I can give it. This is the culmination of everything the DOOM series has been working towards. Buy this game!
Twin Breaker: A Sacred Symbols Adventure is a great arcade brick breaker that goes over and above in terms of storytelling and varied gameplay. Lillymo Games has proved to be an excellent choice of developer to bring Colin’s vision to fruition and when you consider that this is cross-buy with the PlayStation Vita it represents great value for money too.
Covert is an great addition to the PSVR roster. Hardware limitations hold it back at times but the concept is strong enough to carry it through. For too long VR has mainly been an anti-social gaming platform and White Elk Studios has proven that not only can you enjoy VR with friends, but that local co-op is alive and well.
Hunt: Showdown has been a difficult game to review, then. When you’re in the swing of things, perhaps with a friend or two in tow, you can easily sink a number of hours into the game if you let its undeniably addictive nature sink its claws into you. However, it’s hard to recommend to anyone except the most die-hard fans of this particular niche, due to its exceptionally steep learning curve and consistently unforgiving nature.
Bloodroots is an excellent game and one of the first true gems of 2020. It takes all that was great in previous games of a similar ilk and builds on them with a beautiful art style, slick combat and great level design.
Blair Witch is unfortunately a missed opportunity. You can see P.T has been a partial inspiration along with the original subject matter but large bouts of empty wilderness leave you more frustrated and bored than on the edge of your seat. Despite it’s relatively short length, it would have been better if it lasted half as long.
