Tense, chilling and undeniably charming throughout. Little Nightmares II is exactly what I wanted from a sequel to one of my favourite Indie games ever. Buy this game. It will be one of 2021's finest.

The Medium is a game with more highs than lows. Bloober Team has taken a definite step in the right direction with this latest venture and I look forward to seeing them build on these foundations.

Hitman 3 is an early game of the year contender for me. It really is the ultimate stealth sandbox and one that any fan of the genre should check out. IO Interactive has taken their skills to the next level and I cannot wait to see what they do with the 007 license.

Overall, Scott Pilgrim vs The World is one of the better side-scrolling 2D beat 'em ups I have played. The difficulty, especially early on when you feel underpowered, remains an issue. The game is dripping with charm though and despite the frustrations it kept me coming back for more and wanting to fill out my upgrades with different characters. Hopefully, the online stability can improve, completing a worthwhile return for the once banished gem.

7 / 10 - Olija

It was the fast-paced, gory combat and unique visual direction that first drew me to Olija, and while I enjoyed my time with it, there isn’t much here that hasn’t been done better elsewhere. I’m always impressed by games made by small teams and this is no different – just be sure to go in with proper expectations.

I could probably harp on about Immortals for another few thousand words, but I’ll save you the rant. I will, however, leave you with this: Immortals Fenyx Rising is really good. The humour may not be for everyone, but there’s a ton more here than you might expect, and I think it’s worth your time if you’re into open-world action-adventure games. It may not bring much new to the table, but it’s a 30-50 hour journey that I’m super happy I went on – and you should too.

8 / 10 - Fuser

Fuser is a great addition to the music genre. It has so many great tracks and does an excellent job of making you feel, and sound, like a pro. Given the full retail price, it is possible that the game fails to find an audience long term, but I hope that isn’t the case because Harmonix has created something kinda special here.

With its much-improved stealth, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has won me over. This feels like the best AC in a long time. It gives you the choice on how you want to tackle your objectives, something Odyssey lacked if you wanted to stay in the shadows like the Assassins of old.

Watch Dogs Legion is a great game. London is an excellent setting and the gameplay variation makes for a really fun experience. The recruit anyone mechanic is an interesting idea that works well if you are willing to overlook the awful lip-syncing and some odd-looking characters. If you enjoyed Watch Dogs 2 and don’t mind a game that is a little light on narrative, you will enjoy this third entry in the series.

Vader Immortal is a fun experience. The graphics are great and the story feels at home as a side narrative in the Star Wars universe. The gameplay is more restrictive than I would have liked, but using the lightsaber and the force never stops being cool. If you like the subject matter and don’t mind a short experience I recommend picking this one up.
