Priced at a lower entry point than most retail releases, Astro Bot: Rescue Mission is a must play for owners of the PlayStation VR headset, even for those who may not necessarily have a fondness for platformers or are turned off by the cute, cartoon-like aesthetics of the game.
Beautifully trim, transcendently polished, and unexpectedly inclusive, Timespinner is among the most capable endeavours to spring from Castlevania's picked-over carcass.
The Bard's Tale IV: Barrows Deep is not a perfect game by any respect. It's the first mainline sequel to a franchise that is over thirty years old, and this iteration certainly stumbles. However, what is here is a solid game with clever writing, strong characters, and a wonderful world of misfits and misadventures. The game needs patches, and an overall layer of polish, making it feel rushed and shoddy. If you're on the fence, give it some time to get its ducks in a row before you commit to a purchase.
Wandersong made me believe in love again
Life is Strange 2 sets up a very different story that cares a lot of the original game's strengths with it, and leaves some of its weaker points behind.
Forza Horizon 4 feels more focused and creative than its immediate predecessors, thanks to a well-designed open-world that readily encourages hijinx.
Guacamelee 2 is a gorgeous, fun game with a sense of humor that makes me want to cry.
With every passing year, I'm consistently impressed how EA are able to improve on an already winning formula, making each new release of NHL a must own title, rather than a glorified roster update.
Chasm tries something new with its procedurally generated map but it failure to create interesting maps results in a lackluster experience
Valkyria Chronicles 4 stumbles in its narrative, but great characters, a unique aesthetic, and an engaging combat system make for the best game in the franchise since the original
Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker is an interesting concept, but manages to ruin the experience with its flawed combat.
Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner M∀RS is the definitive way to play the best entry in the Zone of the Enders franchise
People will call Donut County an indie darling, and those people will be right.
In the grand scheme of things, if you can afford it, Destiny 2 is now easily the best shooter on the market. I absolutely love where Destiny 2 is now, and hope the Forsaken expansion is a glimpse at things to come.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider doesn't do a lot new. It has some big problems as far as story and themes are concerned, but it remains a fun experience at the end of the day. If you're already a fan of the series, you find more what you enjoyed before, but new players are better served in the previous entries.
Strange Brigade has a nice mix of third-person shooting, puzzles, and humor that ends too soon and costs too much.
Blade Strangers is accessible to players of any skill thanks to simplified combat, but still leaves room for the more competitive players to shine.
I firmly believe Insomniac has crafted the best Spider-Man game to date. Whether you are a just a fan of the movies or a devout reader of the comics, Spider-Man is a console exclusive everyone who owns as PlayStation 4 needs to experience.
F1 2018 delivers a fantastic driving experience, and updates the game in many needed ways. I just wish the career mode felt more meaningful.
Divinity: Original Sin 2 Definitive Edition is the best version of the best RPG of 2017. If you like these games and have a console you'd be a fool not to play it.
