A unique sandbox experience once you get into it and figure out how to play.
All the depth of 2D King of Fighters, none of the beauty.
F1 2016 is a real upgrade on its predecessors, and hints at a promising future.
Charming tabletop presentation, let down by boring combat.
More akin to a great part one of a television two-parter – awesome, but not the whole story.
Valley’s answer to one of its main mysteries doesn’t quite satiate the curiosity it taunts, though it wisely leaves others unsolved. The questions it does pose it can’t answer, because no one can. That’s the siren Valley will use to carry you by the song of its story – though it is somewhat betrayed by its lack of mechanical prowess. I'm not normally one to be bothered by technical issues – I'm more concerned with messages and ideas, hence I can forgive a few breakdowns on the way so long as we get somewhere. Whether it’s a trip worth taking will depend on your tolerance for bumpy rides and the many spell-breaking hiccups curtailing the credulity of your experience.
A great game wrapped in a blanket of bugs.
Attack on Titan: Wings of Freedom is a valiant attempt to capture the feel of AoT that is unfortunately encumbered by some underwhelming elements. The game's easy difficulty, as well as pop-in and some questionable A.I. ultimately drag the experience down a few notches. These issues aside however, WoF boasts a strong story mode, terrifying Titans, and solid gameplay that shows the utmost respect for what this franchise has so quickly become.
Designed for younger children but still a really well made game.
Worms W.M.D. is a Well Made Distraction that I Would Most Definitely recommend.
There’s something meditative and introspective about No Man’s Sky. It’s size and scope elicits feelings of wonder and irrelevance in equal measure, creating metaphors from calculus and code. Those feelings are savagely curtailed by oppressive systems that transform it into something smaller: a videogame.
Bound is an ugly game, but it’s the most powerful, most enchanting kind of ugly. It dares to reject videogames’ obsession with “looking good” and instead focuses on using visual design to complement the core themes and emotional hook of the game. It’s an ugly game because, by taking those ugly fragments and piecing them together, we might just be able to find something beautiful.
The game that finally convinced me to get a Telltale account.
If you’re up for a challenge, MH Generations is an incredibly rewarding and satisfying experience.
Stunning art and music design, but shallow when it comes to depth of meaning and gameplay.
Design missteps and combat randomness don’t defeat this sombre tale.
Not mushroom for error and the steaks are high in this recipe for multiplayer fun.
Slightly watered down version from PC, but still a good game to enjoy both with friends or alone.
An innovative little puzzler that stacks up well, and will keep you entertained for a weekend.
Woefully inadequate AI makes boring combat frustrating.
