MXGP2’s excellent physics and gameplay mechanics makes it a game-changer in the motocross genre.
Michonne offers an intriguing perspective on the overcooked zombie apocalypse theme.
Some directionless new systems and pandering historic tie-ins can't undermine its achievements.
Republique is a decent game with a good premise and unique gameplay, but a disappointing ending.
With or without a guide in hand, Shardlight weaves a tale that is well worth hearing. It’s a familiar premise, and it hits all the familiar beats of a dystopian class conflict plot, but it does it with a degree of care and nuance that sets it above the rest. It’s haunting, and at times shocking, but the reason these aspects work so well is because of the sense of humanity, hope and optimism that permeates this world.
Whether you consider Quantum Break a game with episodes, or a mini-series with interactive segments ultimately doesn't matter - it's an experience. It may use an unproven formula, but that blueprint is also the main attraction that piques one's curiosity, even if my own started to waiver amidst a story too interested in its own keywords to talk about anything more depth-inducing. With a dire need to be amongst the blockbusters, it's an inoffensive, non-threatening tale with big-name actors who try so seriously to make it otherwise. And while not an one interesting story in itself, Quantum Break has an interesting way of being told.
An interesting premise squandered on poor storytelling and unremarkable play.
A serious sports sim in all its primal glory.
Quite simply the definitive version of Twilight Princess.
It's going to be interesting to see what The Division is like six months from now.
Everything you loved about Bravely Default, but with more interesting characters and a more captivating story.
Great in sprints, but tedium might put off players looking for deeper experiences.
Interesting concept, and fun with friends, but a lack of online competition makes it rather dull.
Plenty of promise, but this game is going to require some decent updates over the coming months.
For anyone who hasn't had their fill of retro side-scrolling platformers, Broforce effortless and undeniable fun. Load-up, settle in, and invite a few bros.
Still visually striking, but poor voice acting has undone much of the gravitas it once had.
Needless to say, I had a ball with Stella Glow. From the opening moments in Mithra Village the game had me hooked to it's satisfying story, rich characters, and rewarding strategic gameplay. That writing this review is the only thing keeping me from continuing my adventures with the 9th Regiment is perhaps the best way I can convey the utter delight I feel while playing. While the knowledge that the company that brought this game to life are defunct is sobering, at the very least the team at Imageepoch got to say goodbye with a fantastic effort. Who would have though witches and upbeat pop music could be such a winning combination?
If you like JRPGs (and maybe even if you don’t), you’ll want to find time for this game, though. Falcom haven’t tried to reinvent the wheel, because they wheel doesn’t need reinventing. Instead, they’ve set out to make the most magnificent damn wheel they could, and have succeeded with flying colours.
Everlasting winter: who will break first - your city, or you?
