STARSEEKER: Astroneer Expeditions revolves primarily around exploration, discovery, and cooperation. You go on expeditions solo or with up to four players, gather resources, and unlock upgrades from the space station. The atmosphere and movement are strong, but the limited variety, simple missions, and unclear explanations of various systems make the game feel somewhat unfinished.

Solarpunk is a fun, cozy survival game where you build, farm, and expand your own island. You always have something to work towards, while you decide for yourself how to spend your time. Life Below gives an original twist to the city builder genre by letting you build not a city, but a coral reef. As a protector of the ocean, you restore damaged ecosystems, attract different species to your reef and protect marine life from threats such as pollution, heat waves and jellyfish plagues. Although the game starts quietly, a surprisingly deep management game gradually unfolds with different biomes, unique challenges and a lot of attention to biodiversity. Thanks to the relaxed gameplay, colorful presentation and positive message, Life Below is recommended for both city builder fans and cozy games enthusiasts.

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book is a colorful and accessible platformer in which players help restore a living encyclopedia. The game excels in charm, atmosphere and accessibility, but lacks the challenge and depth that many adult Nintendo fans expect. An excellent choice for children and lovers of cozy games, although the €60 price tag feels on the steep side.

Call of the Elder Gods is a strong successor to Call of the Sea that further expands on the mysterious atmosphere and narrative gameplay of the original. With two playable characters, challenging puzzles and impressive Lovecraft-inspired environments, the game once again delivers an immersive adventure. Despite some slow gameplay and occasionally clunky controls, the strong story and atmospheric world make up for a lot.

Directive 8020 is a major improvement on what we already saw in The Dark Pictures Anthology. This time with its own story and therefore also new game elements. These are elements that feel quite repetitive, such as having to sneak past people every time. That works really well the first few times, but after that it feels very annoying. Nevertheless, the jump scares make up for a lot, as well as the many ramifications in terms of story.

Mixtape is a beautiful and musical coming-of-age game full of atmosphere, charm and visual flair. The soundtrack and art style take many scenes to the next level, but the limited interaction and lack of real emotional depth keep the game from fully resonating. A special experience, but not a modern classic.

Some games try to impress with huge open worlds, spectacular action and endless gameplay mechanics. WILL: Follow The Light consciously opts for a completely different approach: a quiet, narrative experience in which atmosphere and emotion are central. That may not make this game suitable for everyone, but it is precisely because of this that the adventure distinguishes itself from many other narrative games.

Replaced is the debut from developer Sad Cat Studios and manages to convincingly portray a 2.5D style. Graphically it looks great, but unfortunately the pace is very slow and the story is not always convincing. In short, it just plays well.

The Day I Became a Bird is an atmospheric, minimalist game that revolves around experience rather than challenge. Developed by Dont Nod, Aphelion is a story-driven adventure game set on an icy, inhospitable planet. The focus is not on fast action, but on atmosphere, emotion and the gradual discovery of a mystery. The game thus joins a growing group of titles that emphasize experience over gameplay intensity.

Pragmata follows astronaut Hugh Williams, who becomes cut off from his team after a crash landing on the moon and must survive with the help of a mysterious android he names Diana. Together, they try to figure out what went wrong at the moon base and find a way back to Earth. The combination of shooting and hacking forms the core of the gameplay and works surprisingly smoothly, even in more intense combat, supported by a strong variety of enemies, weapons, and upgrades. Yet, it is primarily the bond between Hugh and Diana that sets Pragmata apart and elevates the experience. Although the final installment loses a bit of sharpness and the game isn't entirely innovative, the execution remains strong enough to more than compensate for that.
