Digital Chumps's Reviews

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate comes to PlayStation, bringing this noble attempt at a Turtles roguelike to a new audience. It may borrow from Hades but Super Evil Megacorp has the foundation for a riotous time with friends wanting to beat up the Foot Clan.

7.7 / 10.0 - Drop Dead
Feb 25, 2017

Drop Dead offers a lot of zombie-blasting action with a few notable, but not necessarily deal-breaking flaws. For fans of the old light-gun games, this is definitely worth checking out.

8.2 / 10.0 - The Mage's Tale
Feb 25, 2017

The path towards competent and engaging virtual reality games is littered with the corpses of tech demos and half-baked products. The Mage's Tale fires on many cylinders and becomes one of those mythic "must haves" not because it is simply decent but because it proves that VR has magic in it.

9 / 10.0 - I Am Setsuna
Feb 24, 2017

Everything from the length of the game (around 25 hours), the battle system, difficult, art, music, characters — this has proven to be a treat of an experience for me and one I would happily recommend to any Switch owner.

All in all, Super Bomberman R is one of the most interesting releases on the Switch so far. That said, unless you have a core group to play lots of local multiplayer with or expect the online community to thrive, it's hard to give it a high recommendation

9.5 / 10.0 - Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Feb 24, 2017

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is absolutely the best game currently available for the Nintendo Switch apart from Zelda: Breath of the Wild. For players who have never had the pleasure of experiencing the original Wii U title, this is a must-own and could be qualified as yet another killer app (even though it technically is a port). On the other hand, even if you own the original, this is the definitive Mario Kart 8 experience; in fact, it is the best Mario Kart game to date period.

Hellblade Senua's Sacrifice is a hauntingly beautiful journey through the madness of a warrior's suffering to find her true love. The story is art, the graphics are engrossing and it's truly everything it was advertised to be. Ninja Theory provided a gaming experience that is a rarity these days in the gaming world and it is not to be missed.

If you're a Naruto fan or have played one of the previous games I would suggest picking this one up. Other than being short, this Naruto game follows suit with its predecessor and is sure to make any fan of the series very happy.

Although there are some drawbacks to the game Digimon World Next Order is actually an engaging and fun game.

Rhombus of Ruin accommodates Psychonauts with a comfortable home in virtual reality. Few aspects of its composition feel conditional, granting Psychonauts' beloved motif ample room to work through PlayStation VR's intrinsic weaknesses. Interquels, typically a model disposability, don't seem so strained or contrived inside of this peculiar parallelogram.

8.5 / 10.0 - Splatoon 2
Feb 23, 2017

Splatoon 2 is a considerable upgrade over the original with solid modes, better level design and good customization options for young online gamers. While Splatoon 2 needs to open up Salmon Run permanently, as it is one of the better modes in the game, the title still gives the Switch another worthy notch in its much needed belt of games.

The respect that Capcom and Digital Eclipse have poured into this is evident and absolutely commendable. Where I didn't particularly care for the franchise before, I do now, and while I won't ever put in the time to be great at these games, I'm glad I at least have a convenient, complete, and awesome one-stop place to go to play and celebrate this series on my own time.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is a game for a different kind of gamer. Those who can appreciate the lore and immense depth of stories upon stories, upon stories. However, if you're a newcomer and are interested in the content that this game brings, I encourage you, it is a wonderful ride. The universe, characters, tone, the music… EVERYTHING plays a part in this game and melds together in a way that feels like this could be where our technology heads towards in 600 years.

9.8 / 10.0 - Horizon Zero Dawn

Is this game worth you time and money? GOD, YES. Are you crazy? Honestly speaking, I didn't expect this big of a game with HZD. I knew it was going to be pretty, like all Guerrilla Games are in their own way, but I didn't expect the game to raise the bar with current generation games.

7.8 / 10.0 - Just Dance 2017
Feb 20, 2017

Just Dance 2017’s pros far outweigh its cons. The controls aren’t the best, as their inaccuracy is present from the moment you start moving, but there is a lot of fun to be had dancing and prancing your way to stardom, especially if you have young kids in the household.

9.8 / 10.0 - Destiny 2
Feb 20, 2017

Destiny 2 is the game everyone expected when the first Destiny came out. It's huge, engulfing and rich with gameplay. It has a bit of everything for everyone and does everything right, including provide an engrossing campaign to start things off. It is certainly a contender for game of the year in my opinion and one game you don't want to miss.

Knowledge is Power is a pleasant surprise and a good start for the PlayLink gameplay design for Sony Interactive Entertainment. It's a clever trivia game that uses mobile control scheme well and adds a layer of vicious fun with power plays against opponents. It does move a tinge bit slow, but for the most part it's a solid trivia experience.

Guilt Battle Arena is a fun game with a simple yet innovative combat system allowing everyone to enjoy it. While there is not much depth to the game, it will definitely be a fun one to break out at gatherings and rage at your friends with for a little while.

8.4 / 10.0 - Erica
Feb 20, 2017

Erica is a unique undertaking in the FMV world that worked out well and has set new standards for the genre. It brings an engaging story to life with superb acting, and enough interactive choices for the player to make it a cut above the rest in its genre. It does waste time in unnecessary interactions on occasion, but nothing too detrimental to take away from the mystery and intrigue of its narrative.
