Knowledge is Power is a pleasant surprise and a good start for the PlayLink gameplay design for Sony Interactive Entertainment. It's a clever trivia game that uses mobile control scheme well and adds a layer of vicious fun with power plays against opponents. It does move a tinge bit slow, but for the most part it's a solid trivia experience.
Guilt Battle Arena is a fun game with a simple yet innovative combat system allowing everyone to enjoy it. While there is not much depth to the game, it will definitely be a fun one to break out at gatherings and rage at your friends with for a little while.
Erica is a unique undertaking in the FMV world that worked out well and has set new standards for the genre. It brings an engaging story to life with superb acting, and enough interactive choices for the player to make it a cut above the rest in its genre. It does waste time in unnecessary interactions on occasion, but nothing too detrimental to take away from the mystery and intrigue of its narrative.
The Terminator live event underway in Ghost Recon Breakpoint may just be the fun distraction lapsed players need to get back into the hostile world of Auroa.
Through the eyes of an exasperated protagonist, Those Who Remain borrows from better games to tell a by-the-numbers horror story with the illusion of morality. Rife with puzzles so simplistic they become tedious, its delivery may leave players in the dark.
As Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition stands, it is an upgrade from the original, but sometimes for the wrong reason. The lack of local play is an odd decision, considering the original thrived on it, and especially when so much thought and execution was put into the online multiplayer aspect of the title this time around. The fighting system probably won't win over most fans of the series or of the original 2004 title, but the charm of the original game is still intact through this edition's exploration and treasure discovery. In the end, this game still contains some fun aspects of its original gaming intentions, but only if you can see through its faults.
I'm not calling this the best action platformer of all time by any means, but for me at least it does the basics right and reaches beyond that with some creativity and gameplay that reminded me why I was interested in this game when it was originally released.
I would highly recommend this game to anyone who enjoyed the PS2 game, as well as anyone who wants to check out a series that has withstood the test of time.
Ultra Street Fighter II - The Final Challengers packs the punch of the 1991 original arcade release, and the inclusion of two new modes and all the SFII characters helps make the experience unique, but the price doesn't justify the package. There's just not enough here worth the asking price for the release.
The Ghost Survivors uses Resident Evil 2's capacity for combat and escape as the starting line from which it fires its perpetually short-of-ammunition gun. Each of its frantic what-if scenarios favor acute strategy more than improvisation, each neatly transitioning from basic survival to a pursuit of perfection. Four run-based one-offs with transitory actors, somehow, is just what Resident Evil 2 needed.
Overall, Firis is a solid entry into the long-running franchise that should appeal to previous players and newcomers.
Prey establishes an interesting atmosphere early on and maintains that, with only a few disagreements along the way. Lengthy load times are likely going to get reduced with patches and combat is sometimes more annoying and pace-breaking than I would like, but overall, Prey gives more than enough back in return to offer a compelling experience.
Spelunker Party! is an entertaining and adorable game for younger gamers in the household. It contains simple gameplay design that equals out to quick/fun experiences with a layer of RPG adding just a little depth to the gameplay. It does have its flaws, though, especially in difficulty, but nothing that gamers cannot work through. Definitely a title to consider, if you own a Switch.
Arca's Path strips away familiar virtual reality gimmicks and gives players a serene, occasionally challenging puzzle game that requires no controllers, just the simple motion of your head. Though it runs quite short, it's a peaceful space that offers another glimpse at what the platform offers.
Arizona Sunshine splits its time between posturing as an inarticulate calamity and performing as capable virtual reality shooting gallery. Simple luck appears to be the dividing line, leaving the player to decide if a lengthy campaign, vivid environments, and zealous gunplay are worth putting up with fussy controls, hostile conduct, and anemic hardware.
Overall, while I don't feel at all qualified to really place this game above or below others in the series, I feel confident that it's an interesting title for series veterans who never got to play Gaiden and newcomers alike. With a blend of old school and also lacking many of the modern nuances of today's games, it gives players a straight-forward, yet stout challenge.
Whether in combat or solving puzzles, as well as in management of your oasis, Ever Oasis does a nice job of being accessible yet avoids being shallow. This is not a tough game to learn the mechanics nor is it hard to make steady progress, hour after hour, and that's a good thing. It provides a charming atmosphere and a pleasant presentation that's fun to get into and hard to leave. If you're in the market for that, GREEZO's Ever Oasis makes a strong case for itself.
I can't say that my time with Apollo Justice has been a fantastic intro to the series, but I'm glad I did finally jump in.
Ni no Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom is a triumph that successfully blends JRPG with components of kingdom building, third person action, and real-time strategy.
Other than the technical issues, SGW3 is probably exactly what you expected and even hoped for — a AA modern military shooter with a focus on sniping that evolves the franchise into open world. If you can wait for additional patching or don't mind some of the stout bugs, SGW3 offers an enjoyable experience.
