I'm a thirty-something dad who works in IT with a sideline in gaming reviews. I mostly review XBox One and PC Games for the wonderful outlet that is Jump Dash Roll.
10 / 10 - God of War
Jan 31, 2022

God of War showcases what can be done when time is taken with the periphery as well as the main story. By taking the time to weave the strong foundation that is the Norse Mythology with that of the Kratos' history with Greek Mythology, Santa Monica Studio have crafted a truly intriguing world to inhabit. ‍

Fast cars, twisty roads and more fun and challenges than you can shake a stick at. If you get bored playing Forza Horizon 4 then clearly you've not spent enough time going sideways.

There's little to fault here and that's because SI Games takes the iterative approach. Whilst there hasn't been a big shift on the game's workings since tactical sliders were removed in FM 2014 each version is a step forward.

9 / 10.0 - DiRT 4

DiRT 4 is a fantastic addition to the long history of this series. Whether you're a serious sim racer or an arcade hoon, you will find plenty to satisfy your rallying needs.

9 / 10.0 - Destiny 2
Nov 3, 2017

Destiny 2 is what we hoped Destiny would be. While it still may not be what everyone wanted it to be but it is, to me, a fantastic and entertaining FPS MMO with plenty of content to keep you entertained.

Loot boxes and a sexy Shelob aside Shadow of War is an impressive game in a franchise that whilst takes liberties with lore of the land produces a fascinating world full of captivating experiences.

9 / 10.0 - Project CARS 2

Project Cars 2 final offers a real alternative to console racing fans and brings to the table a fantastic roster of cars and tracks. Combined with an excellent simulation of track and weather conditions Project Cars 2 is pretty much the pinnacle of racing on console.

Football Manager 2019 takes the series to a whole new level and finally brings in some long needed refreshment. What we have is easily the most accessible Football Manager in recent memory but one that can still many moons to master.

9 / 10 - Apex Legends
Feb 14, 2019

Apex Legends lays down the gauntlet to established Battle Royale games such as Fortnite and PUBG. The ping system alone is worth its weight in gold and allows for the more reserved gamers amongst us to join in and have fun. Loot boxes aside, Apex Legends is fast, fun and buttery smooth to play.

9 / 10.0 - F1 2019
Jul 25, 2019

F1 2019 is a fantastic racing title whether you're a fan of the sport or not. Despite my reservations and perceived lack of improvements I've been proven wrong at almost every turn. Codemasters have done the licence and series proud and look forward now to next year's edition and what it might bring especially with new consoles on the horizon.

Football Manager 2020 manages to improve upon last years outing in enough areas to justify an upgrade for owners for FM 2019 or before. However, I do feel it's getting closer to the point where a marquee feature will need to be introduced or an existing one improved dramatically such as the 3D match engine.

9 / 10 - MotoGP 20
Apr 24, 2020

MotoGP 20 is a top notch recreation of one of the fastest series on two wheels. The career mode is entertaining, especially if you decide to take on being a new team. Visually stunning, audibly arresting and just downright fun to play when you get the hang of it, MotoGP 20 is a must for any serious fan of the sport.

9 / 10 - F1 2020
Jul 6, 2020

F1 2020 continues Codemasters' excellent form in delivering a fantastic recreation for Formula 1. The new My Team mode injects new life into the series and is far more welcome than Devon Butler was last year. It's never easy making iterative releases relevant but they sure do seem to have a grand plan in play. One wonders what we'll be treated to next year, but until then there's a bucket load of fun in F1 2020 to keep you entertained.

Post-apocalyptic games rarely stray from the formula of making the Earth some barren dust bowl. By doing something a little different, Horizon Zero Dawn affords itself the opportunity to craft a truly unique tale and with it a complex and strong female lead. If you haven't already played it on PS4 and enjoy well-crafted stories, you owe yourself the opportunity of playing your way through the game and its expansion.

Over the years I've had a love/hate relationship with Football Manager. Some years I can't put it down, others I can barely make it through a season. Football Manager 2022 is a cracking entry in the series and has added plenty to make it feel fresh when compared to previous years, the data hub being the cream of the crop.

Dead Space (2023) is a remake done right. Whilst there's nothing wrong with giving a classic game a lick of paint, EA Motive went a step further and Dead Space is the richer for it.

9 / 10.0 - XCOM 2
