State of Decay 2 is another example of a game brimming with potential that ends up feeling bloated. It could have worked a lot better with a more polished experience but right now it appears to be all over the place with a focus on quantity rather than quality.
If we focus on Raging Justice solely as a Beat 'em up, it is not exactly the most original experience with a terrible art style. Despite that, it is still a fun multiplayer game that is good for passing time if you are in the mood for it.
This game is certainly not for everyone. It can be challenging and difficult at times and while it offers a good amount of replay value, the new content doesn’t make it a worthwhile purchase if you have already bought and played it during its original release.
This is more of a fan service update rather than a proper remaster. There are some good changes to the combat system that add more strategy to it, but overall, the experience of the game is still mostly the same if you ignore the partial VR support that is typically limited to a single gameplay mode.
This could have been a truly great game if it was more closely designed and didn't offer as much filler. I can understand that the developers were going for something ambitious here but it unfortunately has resulted in a flawed product that still shows plenty of potential.
Gal*Gun 2 had the potential to be a fun game but it suffers from some serious design issues. The main gameplay is rather weak and repetitive in nature and the novelty factor ends rather quickly once you realize that there isn’t really much to do here.
The combat is fun and encourages the player to experiment with the mechanics but it is held back by a disappointing story and repetitive exploration. As a sequel, the game feels like an improvement overall but still suffers from noticeable flaws.
A fun Atelier game that can be fairly complex with its alchemy mechanics, but it is also simple to understand even if you have never played any of the past entries in the series.
An emotional tale that is extremely short but also worth the time spent if you can get over its flaws. The pacing could be a little better and the gameplay could have avoided the repetitive nature of its design but it is still a good experience overall.
Attack on Titan 2 is a pleasant surprise as a sequel. It is remarkable to see how the developers have managed to learn from their mistakes and turned the complete game around after a mediocre start.
Radiant Historia: Perfect Chronology feels like an unnecessary remake of otherwise a great game that is one of the best time travelling RPG for the Nintendo 3DS.
Metal Gear Survive is a strange mix of survival horror with open world. On the one hand, there are some superb ideas seen in the game that could have been great to play but on the other hand, the game constantly keeps testing your patience by forcing you to micromanage the health of your character.
Owlboy is brilliantly paced from the start to the end with a well-developed cast of characters. It is one of the most impressive metroidvania game from an indie developer this generation.
Dissidia Final Fantasy NT does offer the ultimate fanservice, but it is held back by the lack of single player content and a poorly designed story mode. The combat system is fun although flawed in design due to the chaotic nature of battles.
If you enjoyed I am Setsuna, there is a good chance that you will have a great time with Lost Sphear. If you didn't, it is hard to say if Lost Sphear will be able to pull you back in, since it works more as a spiritual successor than a brand new game.
Despite having an art style similar to the SteamWorld games, this is a completely different take on the SteamWorld series with a focus on turn-based strategic battles offering a good amount of challenge with procedurally generated levels.
This is the perfect Zelda clone that has inspiration from the classic Zelda games, with a well told and charming story that can be enjoyed by everyone.
This is a actually a pretty decent clone of Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo Switch, and it might scratch that certain itch, but the terrible shop-based unlock system really sours the experience of playing the game and unlocking everything naturally.
A Walk in the Park is an enjoyable expansion that is especially aimed at those fans who have already completed the base game. It doesn't really alter the experience or add something new to the core gameplay mechanics, but as an expansion, it offers some great gameplay moments in a completely new location.
Okami HD has proven to be a worthy port of this beloved classic with crisp and clear visuals backed by solid performance. It is an experience that shouldn't be missed especially if you have never played the original game.
