Pantsu Hunter: Back to the 90s has some good intentions but while it does a competent job at creating a nostalgic environment, its gameplay experience feels rather poor and uninteresting, mostly due to its dull puzzles and sub-par structure. This is a pity, as the game clearly has ideas that could have brought it further but the way they were implemented simply does not lead Pantsu Hunter to a memorable or remarkable threshold.

Sniper Elite III: Ultimate Edition gets part of the job done: the sniper component is well done, the game has a very good performance no matter where it is played and there's plenty of content that will keep the players happy. Things start going south with the game's wasted potential, plus its AI problems that can make the challenge inadvertently easier than it should and problems in some sections of the maps end up making this work fall below its expected level. That doesn't stand in the way of this being a welcome addition to the Nintendo Switch catalogue when it comes to sniper action games.

Doughlings: Arcade brings an experience based on Space Invaders under a contemporary visual presentation and it does a decent job at that. Where things go a bit off track is when the game prevents us from simply enjoying some quick, simple gaming sessions and when it imposes a staggering and merciless difficulty level, which ends up harming the experience and turning what could be a perfectly fun Space Invaders descendant into a game that can be dropped in favour of other titles available at the Nintendo Switch eShop.

Pillars of Eternity is a marvel of an RPG that pays tribute to the most classic names of its genre and which brings a vast wold to explore, along with a plot where the player's agency will have major consequences throughout the events. Its involving combat system and high quality writing further contribute to make Pillars of Eternity an indispensable game that everyone should get their hands on.

River City Girls is a very fun, well-crafted and deliciously funny beat'em-up in the same line as its predecessor. With its varied combat options, delightful animations and charismatic characters, River City Girls is set to appeal even to players who might not necessarily be very keen on beat'em-ups.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses features the finest game world, plot and gameplay of the series and even if certain aspects of its execution do raise some questions, its varied and rich world, high quality writing, exquisite soundtrack and the way its characters are shaped by the plot mean that nobody will be left untouched by this marvelous work, even if it might not be the ultimate Fire Emblem game that many expected.

Car Mechanic Manager fits in the broad management simulation games genre but unlike many of its counterparts in this sector, this conversion of a free game developed for mobile devices has virtually nothing going for it, as the gameplay experience is almost non-existent and as such, Car Mechanic Manager is a game that will not bring anything enjoyable to any player.

Senran Kagura Peach Ball is a fun addition to the series and one which will be welcomed by its fans, even if those unfamiliar with the name will not feel much of its appeal. A visually attractive game with a fun gameplay and plenty of content to unlock, Peach Ball could have gone further in the number of pinball tables on offer (only two) and variety of characters.

The game could stand out higher if it had more variety when it comes to its vehicles and missions, as well as if its locations did not look so remarkably similar but these elements don't stand in the way of an enjoyable experience.

Shakedown: Hawaii does many things right - its sense of humour, the 16-bit inspired graphics and the appeal of its game world are undeniably part of this group. Then there are other things which the game does not succeed in the same way, such as when it comes to keep up its pace interesting and compelling, mostly due to how repetitive its missions become and to the lack of sense of progression between the objectives. All factors considered, Shakedown: Hawaii is still a fun and enjoyable game, which could have been even better.

The Princess Guide feels like a mishmash of ideas that involves some creative concepts, characters with a good deal of personality and visually appealing, but the game mechanics are not properly explained, there's several examples of incoherence in the plot development and the combat is rather repetitive. Overall, this experience ends up becoming disappointing.

Our World Is Ended does several things right. Its presentation is certainly something to look at, the work of its voice actors is laudable and the game has some potential but unfortunately, some key elements of the game were not implemented that well: the plot and characters turn out to be a disappointment and the game's sense of progression feels very erratic. Its humour also feels very exaggerated and repetitive, which ends up hurting a game part of a genre that relies so much on story and plot.

While Team Sonic Racing could have gone further in its ambitions, the game is worthy of praise for being a fun and enjoyable kart racing game, with plenty of well-designed and original gameplay mechanics. It's also another opportunity to bring together a series of characters of the Sonic universe, this time in the context of a team racing competition which works very well.

5 / 10 - Coffee Crisis
May 20, 2019

Coffee Crisis on the Nintendo Switch is full of absurd and fun elements, with a plot that doesn't take itself too seriously and a memorable soundtrack that fits perfectly with the game's purpose. This would be perfect if the game could deliver on everything else with the same quality, and while Coffee Crisis certainly is enjoyable, its short length, difficulty problems and poorly roguelike elements mean that it falls short of breaking into the instant classic category, making this a mostly competent effort but which could have done so much more.

7 / 10 - Marble It Up!
May 5, 2019

Marble It Up! is an example of a good, fun game that is based on quick, simple experiences and enjoyable gameplay mechanics, as well as on constantly improving one's performance. Yet and while Marble It Up! will certainly appeal to players who enjoy returning to the same level to improve their rank, players who have more simple experiences will find the emphasis on repetition to be too tiresome and the game's appeal will end up producing different results in different audiences.

X-Morph: Defense is a treat for fans of action and tower defense games, as its simple but fun mechanics will keep players marveled for many hours. Its origins in the PC world mean that its controls don't feel entirely correct on a console but the game's wonderful visual displays, not to mention its absurd and hilarious humour will be more than enough to build up on its gameplay mechanics.

7 / 10 - Nightshade
Mar 8, 2019

Nightshade is a new contribution to the number of visual novels in the Nintendo Switch and a necessary one for the fans of the genre. With its multiple plot lines, dark environment, alluring plot and fitting art style, Nightshade's flaws regarding its clichés and some sub-par endings amidst its multiple paths pose no obstacle to this being an involving and recommended experience.

It's remarkable how a game that has such a well-written plot and such immersive, authentic worlds still needs considerable work when it comes to its controls, level design and overall quality of the puzzles. Still, for what it is, The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince can stand on its feet, provided the player is willing to be a bit lenient with its flaws.

LEGRAND LEGACY: Tale of the Fatebounds does a good job at paying tribute to the JRPG of the 1990s and fans of the genre are most definitely likely to enjoy this experience, which is topped off by a very good visual environment and a quality content. The game will be less appealing to those outside the scope of the genre, who will mostly be put off by its lack of any new and innovative mechanics, as well as by its inconsistent plot and chance-based combat.

Yo-Kai Watch 3 brings the trilogy to a conclusion and it really left the best for last, as this is easily the best game so far under the Yo-Kai Watch name. Even if its plot is not consistent when it comes to quality, Yo-Kai Watch 3 features plenty of high-level technical execution, new content and locations and gives the player an additional motivation to explore, which only creates more anticipation for what the series will bring in the future.
