Critic Reviews for Doughlings: Invasion
Overall, Doughlings: Invasion is a surprisingly fun time. Though it appears on the surface to be little more than an unpleasant looking clone of Space Invaders, its surprisingly deep gameplay elements, well sloped difficulty curve, and some banging tunes make it a simple yet effective bit of arcade fun for short bursts. Though players are unlikely to pick it up for more than an hour due to the lack of multiplayer or meaningful rewards for completion, that hour will at least be entertaining. Don't let the ugly graphics put you off; if you've got a spare bit of dough, it might be worth a look.
Doughlings: Arcade brings an experience based on Space Invaders under a contemporary visual presentation and it does a decent job at that. Where things go a bit off track is when the game prevents us from simply enjoying some quick, simple gaming sessions and when it imposes a staggering and merciless difficulty level, which ends up harming the experience and turning what could be a perfectly fun Space Invaders descendant into a game that can be dropped in favour of other titles available at the Nintendo Switch eShop.

Hero Concept's additions help to break up the inherent monotony of Space Invaders, but Doughlings: Invasion is still a game that's fun for short bursts only. That's not a deal killer, of course, just something to consider before buying.
Overall, Doughlings: Invasion is a fun-filled game that is good for a player of any age. My son had a lot of fun playing it at 8 years old, and I also had fun playing it at 33. It is a game that is worth the $9.99 USD and is available on Steam, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. I had an issue putting the game down because it was a little bit addictive to continue playing it until you beat it, so have fun out there.
Regardless of these issues, if I were given the option of playing the original Space Invaders or Doughlings: Invastion, I would absolutely prefer the newer title thanks to those new mechanics and its fun presentation.
If you like the idea of an indie version of Space Invaders with nifty power-ups then you're sure to have fun with Doughlings: Invasion.
I like Space Invaders, so I like Doughlings Invasion. The RPG touches and variety of enemies add a little something extra to the mix
As a console game, it’s a waste of everyone’s time to play a terrible knock off of a timeless classic (of which there are much better versions of out there).
