Ghost Blade HD is a game that may be out of its original time but still provides a fun-packed and fluid 2D shooting experience, just like so many others did in decades past. Despite its lacklustre sound environment and rather short lifespan, it's a well-crafted introduction to the genre for many players who never had any contact with 2D shooters and can bring back some good memories for more experienced players.

7 / 10 - Brave Dungeon
Apr 19, 2017

Brave Dungeon is a simple but fun RPG that may not be the most ambitious effort ever made but it certainly allows for fun sessions. Featuring plenty of content, including after the game's main quest is finished and quality animations, Brave Dungeon's rather unvaried dungeons don't pose much of an obstacle in making this a good option for RPG fans.

7 / 10 - Nightshade
Mar 8, 2019

Nightshade is a new contribution to the number of visual novels in the Nintendo Switch and a necessary one for the fans of the genre. With its multiple plot lines, dark environment, alluring plot and fitting art style, Nightshade's flaws regarding its clichés and some sub-par endings amidst its multiple paths pose no obstacle to this being an involving and recommended experience.

7 / 10 - Kid Tripp
Sep 6, 2017

Kid Tripp as a whole is a quality game that features fun and welcome mechanics within the endless runner genre and with a rich and varied audiovisual background. While it feels short for those who complete it soon enough, it's a fun experience that is certainly pleasant to play and which lasts enough without ever feeling too repetitive.

Haunted Dungeons: Hyakki Castle may not be the greatest game ever made but that doesn't stand on its way of being a welcome RPG to arrive on the Nintendo Switch. Thanks to creative gameplay, a great variety of characters and a good dose of Japanese and Western themes, the game's qualities stand out against its rather uninspired level design and unimpressive soundtrack.

80's Overdrive brings back old-school arcade racing to the 3DS and this is a game that will make friends among the fans of the most memorable games of that style. Its lack of a multiplayer mode is the game's biggest flaw and some frustrating elements in the main competitive racing mode somewhat harm the experience but overall, it brings a fun and nostalgia-filled time to its players.

This RPG is more than deserving of attention with its compelling combat system, well developed progression, rich and varied visual environment, as well as a vast and varied world. Alliance Alive would deserve to see an earlier release in Nintendo's last-gen handheld, if only to ensure more visibility to its efforts.

Labyrinth of Refrain: Coven of Dusk lands on the Nintendo Switch helped by a series of good gameplay mechanics and a combat system that is fast and welcome to handle by the players. While not everyone will be on board with Labyrinth of Refrain and its peculiar humour, the game will easily and deservedly win over the preferences of JRPG fans.

7 / 10 - Marble It Up!
May 5, 2019

Marble It Up! is an example of a good, fun game that is based on quick, simple experiences and enjoyable gameplay mechanics, as well as on constantly improving one's performance. Yet and while Marble It Up! will certainly appeal to players who enjoy returning to the same level to improve their rank, players who have more simple experiences will find the emphasis on repetition to be too tiresome and the game's appeal will end up producing different results in different audiences.

Yo-Kai Watch 3 brings the trilogy to a conclusion and it really left the best for last, as this is easily the best game so far under the Yo-Kai Watch name. Even if its plot is not consistent when it comes to quality, Yo-Kai Watch 3 features plenty of high-level technical execution, new content and locations and gives the player an additional motivation to explore, which only creates more anticipation for what the series will bring in the future.

While Team Sonic Racing could have gone further in its ambitions, the game is worthy of praise for being a fun and enjoyable kart racing game, with plenty of well-designed and original gameplay mechanics. It's also another opportunity to bring together a series of characters of the Sonic universe, this time in the context of a team racing competition which works very well.

Shakedown: Hawaii does many things right - its sense of humour, the 16-bit inspired graphics and the appeal of its game world are undeniably part of this group. Then there are other things which the game does not succeed in the same way, such as when it comes to keep up its pace interesting and compelling, mostly due to how repetitive its missions become and to the lack of sense of progression between the objectives. All factors considered, Shakedown: Hawaii is still a fun and enjoyable game, which could have been even better.

The game could stand out higher if it had more variety when it comes to its vehicles and missions, as well as if its locations did not look so remarkably similar but these elements don't stand in the way of an enjoyable experience.

7 / 10 - Neo Cab
Dec 2, 2019

Neo Cab is a visual novel that touches upon relevant points of interest for the future of society and with its well written dialogues and varied characters, the result is an interesting and engaging effort. While its length is too short, Neo Cab provides strong incentives for players to return to it, despite a main plot that could benefit from more development.

If My Heart Had Wings for the Nintendo Switch knows very well what it's doing. With its emotional, enveloping story and characters, this visual novel excels at transmitting feelings and its art style and soundtrack certainly help with this. It would be even better if the game allowed for touchscreen controls but as it is, If My Heart Had Wings deserves its praise and distinction as one of the best visual novels for Nintendo's console.

The exploration aspect is fun, the three characters are accessible but different enough to make each of them interesting on their own merits, and there are different endings to find out. Mayhem Brawler could only benefit from an online multiplayer component, as well as from slightly shorter durability for certain enemy fights.

Hot Wheels Unleashed brings the essence of the famous toy line into the Nintendo Switch, and while the game's controls and difficulty level can make the experience rather hard to get into for some, the amount of cars to collect and the high degree of customization all contribute to make this an experience that fans of the toys will duly embrace.

Opencritic - Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom - Prince's Edition, a princely version of a marvelous JRPG that brings all the previous DLC under one package and which does a great job on the Nintendo Switch, despite some technical limitations. With an excellent combat system, an art style that's a marvel to look at, and a very rewarding exploration, this version of Ni No Kuni II will fall perfectly on the shelves of any fan of JRPGs.

While this choice may be unorthodox, Astria Ascending does a marvelous job at providing its players with a finely executed combat system, as well as a very engaging sense of character progression. Completionists too will enjoy clearing every single path for the development of the game's characters. Set amid a visually gorgeous world, Astria Ascending could have invested more in its plot, which is rather generic and unoriginal, but fans of JRPGs who can look beyond that will find a very fun and absorbing work landing on their Nintendo Switch.
