Angelo D'Argenio's Reviews

Personally, I have always thought that Video Games were more than just games, and have sought to enrich my life by finding out what more Video Games can do. I've been a game journalist, tournament organizer, educator, panelist, and even a game themed comedian. I've traveled the world to go to preview events, and been in game jams with indie producers. I've seen events like AGDQ raise incredible amounts of money for charity. To me, games are more than games. Heck, they are more than art, more than sport, and more than community. They are a vehicle for experience, in a way that so few other forms of media can be.

Feb 16, 2017

For Honor is a fantastically innovative game that deserves to be played by everyone at least once, but whether or not it ends up being a multiplayer classic is still yet to be seen.

7.5 / 10.0 - Tales of Berseria
Jan 31, 2017

Tales of Berseria isn’t perfect by any means, but it is a marked improvement over other recent Tales titles. With a couple friends along for the ride, you can squeeze quite a bit of enjoyment out of this game, despite its flaws.

7.8 / 10.0 - The Last Guardian
Dec 7, 2016

The Last Guardian is a truly enjoyable game, but it doesn't nearly live up to its own hype. It's impossible to shake the feeling that we could have gotten something of similar quality on the PS3 in exchange for a much shorter development cycle.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare’s multiplayer will likely only appeal to the die-hard Call of Duty fans who would buy it no matter what this review says. For everyone else, it might be worth picking up on sale just to play its single-player campaign.

Sister Location is a fantastic horror game, even if it doesn’t particularly feel like the rest of the FNAF series.

Paper Mario: Color Splash could have been so much more than it was, but its attachment to Sticker Star’s failed mechanics holds it back.

This isn’t the pinnacle of the Ace Attorney series like fans wanted, but it’s a perfectly enjoyable entry nonetheless.

If you are looking for a classic JRPG experience, you will love I Am Setsuna. If you are looking for the second coming of Chrono Trigger, however, you will be disappointed.

Tokyo Mirage Sessions is not only the best JRPG to come out for the Wii U, it’s likely the best JRPG we have seen in this generation, period. Atlus is going to have their work cut out for them if they are going to one-up themselves with Persona 5.

8.3 / 10.0 - Zero Time Dilemma
Jul 7, 2016

Despite its flaws, Zero Time Dilemma is one of the more compelling titles released this year. You will find few other games like it, both in quality and plain weirdness.

While it’s understandable that Square Enix wanted to create a Star Ocean more like the fondly remembered early titles of the series, they seem to have forgotten what made those titles great. Whatever it was, Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness has none of it.

Guilty Gear Xrd –Revelator- makes some amazing innovations in tutorials, lobbies, modes, and new characters that no one will notice because there simply isn't enough here to warrant purchasing the game again at full price. It's a shame, too, because many fighting games can learn from its exhaustive teaching tools.

8 / 10.0 - Bravely Default
