The main strength of Nobody Saves the World is its never being trivial: it is not in the beautiful music, in the funny dialogues, in the simple plot, nor in the complex but satisfying system of Aspects, which gives the player the opportunity to mix skills and create new and devastating builds. In short, it is a game in full Drinkbox style, different from the splendid Guacamelee!, but from which it inherits an over-the-top style and an explosion of creativity found not only in the artistic component, but in every pixel.

A bit slow at the beginning and a bit repetitive in the long run, overall Grow: Song of the Evertree still offers a pleasant and relaxing experience, with its simple but effective playful loop, its ability to motivate the player without pressure or forcing and that sense of freedom and progression that transmits in a concretely satisfying way.

8.8 / 10.0 - Solar Ash
Dec 1, 2021

Solar Ash comes at the end of the games, with the Top 10 of 2021 already compiled and the nominations for the various year-end awards already awarded, and that's a shame. Because it is one of those endings with a bang in a complicated and fluctuating year, which has undoubtedly given us pearls, but which also feels on the rump the difficulties and challenges that the pandemic has added to the already difficult universe of game development.

Iron Harvest skips for now the old-gen consoles, still with a release date to be destined, but arrives on the next-gen ones with a Complete Edition undoubtedly rich from the content point of view, albeit with some smudges in purely technical and playful terms.

7.3 / 10.0 - Jupiter Hell
Aug 8, 2021

Jupiter Hell is a richer, more concrete and enjoyable version of Doom, the Roguelike, from which it borrows the original concept. The result is a more than valid exponent of the genre, which mixes action, strategy and a pinch of rpg without ever being too frustrating, thanks to a good balance and the possibility of selecting different levels of challenge.

8 / 10.0 - GRIME
Aug 5, 2021

A bit like in his own world, in Grime imperfection is the master. This, however, does not prevent him in the least from shining and soaring like the protagonist himself, a Sculpted hated by the creatures that swarm the ravines. Clover Bite's first work is a metroidvania of the highest level, perhaps not fully original, thanks to a skilful mix of mechanics and artistic styles borrowed from numerous media and works, but absolutely successful, able to give a punitive experience, but for most of the adventure right and not too frustrating.

7 / 10.0 - GreedFall
Jul 10, 2021

Greedfall's next-gen update undoubtedly makes it more beautiful to see, and in some ways also to play, but it does not change the imperfect DNA that did not allow it to shine at launch, and that continues to clip its wings even now, two years later.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 finally arrives on Nintendo Switch and, as is traditional when it comes to cross-platform titles, there are many pros and cons to consider before proceeding to purchase. Let us start by saying that, although it is a content version identical to the others, between not exactly ideal controls and obvious graphic filings, the porting process has required some important compromise.

The core of the experience remains pleasant and fun, provided, however, that it is taken more like a more of the same, if not almost an expansion of the first Contracts, and to accept its obvious limits and problems.

For the more dedicated fans, or newbies willing to discover a glorious saga ready to relaunch, however, a little more motivation will be needed to justify the € 30 required, perhaps not just a few for a review of gaming history certainly appreciated, but not then so essential.

7.8 / 10.0 - Daemon X Machina
Sep 11, 2019

Despite being weighed down by a certain repetitiveness (accentuated by the need to repeat missions several times to scrape together parts, equipment, and money) and although it has some technical limitations, Daemon X Machina represents a respectable demonstration of the mech genre that is able to satisfy the hunger for fans

5.9 / 10.0 - Tokyo 42
May 31, 2017

Tokyo 42 offers a pretty cool city of the future to explore, a beautiful art style and tributes masterpieces of both game industry and film industry with great class, but fails to provide an entertaining experience. The game it's quite too hard in part of its (many) missions because of its stiff camera and its not so pleasant way to aim, plus, it has technical problems.

Despite being more than 10 years old, LocoRoco is still a beautiful and entartaining game, thanks to a deep gameplay, a brilliant level design and a relaxed atmosphere. The remastered is not that perfect (low-res cutscenes, a new – luckily, optional – motion-control system that is not so accurate), but fortunately LocoRoco aged very well.

7.8 / 10.0 - The Sexy Brutale
Apr 16, 2017

The Sexy Brutale is brilliant and intelligent, with its beautiful art style, its witty puzzles and its captivating story, but it's far from perfect, especially on Xbox One, where it has quite a few problems. It has near-zero replayability, but will keep you intrigued for more than 7 hours.

7 / 10.0 - I Am Setsuna
Mar 12, 2017

The cool combat mechanics, its common ground with the likes of Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VI and the intriguing story of I am Setsuna will please fans of old school JRPGs, but it's far from perfect: it's quite linear and monotonous
