8 / 10.0 - Beat Slayer
Apr 3, 2024

Beat Slayer’s gorgeous style drew us into this underground fight club, but the razor-sharp combat systems and constant gameplay updates keep things from feeling overly repetitive. If you ever wondered what an electronica take on Hades would look like, then come kick Deitrich’s ass in Beat Slayer.

7.8 / 10.0 - Pool Panic
Jun 13, 2018

Billed as the worlds least realistic pool simulator, Pool Panic is developed by indie team Rekim, and happens to be the epitome of how Adult Swim do games. From Robot Unicorn Attack to Battle Chef Brigade, Just as individual as the Adult Swim's TV programming, Pool panic takes a clear cue from this. Looking like a mash-up of the Mr. Men, Cuphead, and Rick & Morty, Pool Panic is a wonderfully anarchic work of 2D animation.

7.5 / 10.0 - Armello
Jun 12, 2018

Back in 2015, League of Geeks launched a Kickstarter for a visceral, turn-based game full of anthropomorphized animals. Now, the Australian indie team brings Armello to the Nintendo Switch for those of us on the go. Join a range of animal characters as they fight, scheme, and scurry their way to the throne in a highly acclaimed table top interpretation. This is our review of Armello on Nintendo Switch.

7.5 / 10.0 - Impact Winter
May 26, 2017

Between the narrative content, progression systems, and team management, Impact Winter is far more than a simple scavenging simulator. It still embraces the joy of exploration, but challenges players to balance a multitude of risks. Like many story driven games, replay value can feel somewhat limited by the adherence to a script and the game’s achievement system adds little to this. Despite these niggles, I adored wandering the wilds with Jacob. If you have a hankering for a survival game that has some depth to it and own a controller, then Impact Winter is a solid choice.

Despite an obvious need to mix things up and curate a more vibrant online audience, Sword and Soldiers 2: Shwarmageddon has plenty that is good about it.

It’s a cute indie quest that takes you on a beautiful journey. It won’t change your world but I can’t help but recommend that you share Rime and Ember’s.

7.5 / 10.0 - TwinCop

Twin cop is ludicrous, irreverent, and utterly infuriating. It is easily the most fun I’ve had after a pontoon accident.

7.5 / 10.0 - Headliner: NoviNews
Sep 9, 2019

Headline: Novines is more than just a tick box exercise. The characters, writing, animation and layered complexity make this a game that feels layered ultimately rewarding. There’s little else to really say without spoiling the narrative but if you have ever wondered what a visual novel and papers please look like in one package then it’s time to find out.

7.5 / 10.0 - Lovingly Evil
Sep 2, 2020

With a sinfully gluttonous amount of replay value and some inventive ideas, Lovingly Evil won’t conquer the world but it might annex your heart, plant a flag, and start taxing you per beat.

A wonderfully laid back tale that side steps the traditional point and click spam in favour of some gorgeous Miyazaki inspired artwork. Get this if you have a lazy evening to use and you'll come out smiling.

7.5 / 10.0 - Occupy White Walls
Jun 28, 2022

It’s not perfect quite yet. Tthe UI systems could use more consistency across the board and the opening moments are truly intimidating. However, once you let go of your own expectations and just enjoy the ride this unusual art MMO will pull you back in when you’re ready to escape the day in a different way.

Like Wii Sports, Micro machines, or 1-2-Switch, Infinite Minigolf is incredibly easy to play with virtually no skill barrier. If you can click a couple of buttons you can play against friends and that is where this game really shines. Beating your own record, or watching a faceless opponents ball scurry off into the distance is satisfying, but there is nothing quite like swapping insults and game pads with your friends during an overtly competitive round. Infinite Minigolf is not incredibly difficult, it is not a sprawling adventure of epic proportions, it is a good time with friends in the comfort of your own front room and that is why I’ll pick it up time and again.

Coffee Crisis is a fun throwback to the retro era. It takes a few new ideas, an interesting theme and simply has fun with things.
