One Night Stand is a good indication of what the game is about - indeed, this is a visual novel where the protagonist will have to navigate around the follow-up to an alcohol-fueled one night stand. A rather short and simple game but with plenty of different endings to keep the player interested, One Night Stand disappoints when it comes to its audiovisual environment, which is lacklustre to say the least and has almost nothing to listen to and feels like a too short experience.

6 / 10 - Rebel Cops
Dec 16, 2019

Rebel Cops sits on a spot for tactical action games that award (or punish...) their players with a grueling difficulty level and incentives to follow different approaches. If this will delight fans of the genre, those less versed on tactical action will be irredeemably cast aside, as the experience of Rebel Cops will not be their friend, and it's not like the game features a rich and plentiful plot to make up for that.

If the art style and graphic execution are superb, its soundtrack fits the environment perfectly and the plot is carefully crafted, the gameplay experience falls short of expectations and as an RPG, it feels like a rather banal effort. While certainly not a bad game, Vambrance: Cold Soul gives the impression that it could be much more but instead, it doesn't leave the territory of an average experience, without any gameplay elements that would make it stand out.

Kotodama: The 7 Mysteries of Fujisawa is a visual novel that doesn't go as far as it could. While it does feature an appealing visual outlook and some interesting characters, its puzzles turn out to be too simple and some of its plot gaps end up harming the overall experience. Nonetheless none of this is enough to prevent fans of visual novels from finding some good elements in Kotodama: The 7 Mysteries of Fujisawa.

Atelier Totori follows up on its predecessor but rather than using alchemy as the basis of the game's mechanics, Totori puts more emphasis on combat and exploration, with mixed results. If the plot is interesting and captivating, the combat feels rather stale, which is a shame as combat is now a more necessary feature than before, given the game's reliance on exploration. While some aspects are to be praised, Atelier Totori missed a chance to rise above its predecessor.

Little Dragons Café has the advantage of a more free structure, without the pressure of having to fulfil objectives at a certain moment and its open world adds up to its qualities. However this is not correctly used to deliver a fun, enjoyable experience, as the game gets repetitive too quickly and the free nature of its structure becomes void of a sense of direction, leaving the player without a proper guidance.

This game that promises to be the ultimate version of the previous Code of Princess does not fully respond to expectations, especially as far as the quality of the visual environment is concerned but despite that, the variety of characters and movements involved is still something to be happy about.

Regalia: Of Men and Monarchs - Royal Edition has an involving plot with plenty of humour that will keep the players well entertained. It doesn't fully live up to its potential when it comes to the combat system, which is far from accessible, and its loading times are way too long, which maks this a game that will not find its place next to everyone.

Mercenaries Saga Chronicles consists of three games of the tactical RPG series brought together for the Nintendo Switch. If the gameplay is polished enough to allow for a fun experience and the variety of options for the characters is very much welcome, the game could also go much further when it comes to introducing new elements, of which there are very few, and to make its plot more interesting and compelling to the players.

6 / 10 - RXN -Raijin-
Jan 18, 2018

RXN -Raijin - is a bullet hell shooter, with most of the traits that can be found in these games, for good and for bad. It does feature some good controls and the gameplay is quite decent but its combat segments are too short. Adding to that a progress system that doesn't give any incentive to make different choices and a plot that is immediately forgettable and the result is a game that could have gone further but as it is, won't stand out among its peers.

6 / 10 - InnerSpace
Mar 25, 2018

InnerSpace features overall interesting aesthetics and the variety of the vehicles presented is certainly something to keep in mind. Where it doesn't stand out, though, is on its lack of guidance, which can cause some frustrating moments for the players and more variety when it comes to the puzzles would be very much appreciated. As it is, InnerSpace leaves the feeling that its execution is below expected.

Oh My Godheads: Party Edition gets its primary goals right: it's a fun and entertaining multiplayer party game for the Nintendo Switch, one which offers a good variety of levels and which can provide some enjoyable four-player sessions. It doesn't fully live up to what it could do, unfortunately, and after a not too great amount of time Oh My Godheads starts losing its appeal, also due to its short length.

Kingdom: New Lands starts off on a welcome note that seems to promise a wide and ambitious experience but other than its stunning audiovisual component, the game begins its descent too early on. While simplicity is usually something to praise, Kingdom: New Lands is too simple for its own good and this ends up harming it, especially as it also becomes too repetitive early on.

6 / 10 - Perception
Dec 14, 2017

Thanks to its atmosphere, the game manages to create a certain palpable fear in the player, which is fundamental for a work of this kind. The game would benefit from exploring some of its mechanics at a deeper level but as it is, Perception can bring an interesting, even if rather short, experience to the players.

6 / 10 - Butcher
Nov 7, 2017

Butcher does not revolutionize the side-scrolling genre for the 21st century. What it features in fun gameplay and good looking visuals it loses in terms of the repetitiveness of its levels and a lack of variety of the elements used. That being said, Butcher is still fun enough to give it a go and fans of side-scrollers are likely to enjoy some time around this game.

6 / 10 - Neon Chrome
Nov 25, 2017

Neon Chrome's roguelike qualities combined with shoot'em up gameplay mechanics contribute to make this an interesting game that makes the players change their tactics with every level and which presents an immense amount of weapons and upgrades. However, it also feels like it doesn't quite fulfill its potential, as its plot remains stale throughout the game and the audiovisual component doesn't show anything worthy of praise.

One More Dungeon is an interesting roguelike game that features some rather original mechanics. It doesn't go so far on all its components, as its interface makes it difficult to navigate and its sound design and effects need an overhaul but One More Dungeon still has some elements that allow for fun moments.

The Banner Saga 2 builds up on its predecessor and adds a greater variety of environments to an enjoyable tactical RPG with a marvelous visual component. The Banner Saga 2 also gives the impression that it could have gone much farther than what we're seeing here but rather it chose to be more of a layover than a destination, as it seems to open the ground for something greater.

LEGO Bricktales brings the LEGO building experience to a game format, and one that's accessible and welcoming to a wide segment of the audience. While the game does feature a structuring plot and some exploration, it's the building that's the star here, and LEGO Bricktales does a good job at presenting a fun building challenge that's worthy of the LEGO name and fame.

7 / 10 - Card Shark
Jul 13, 2022

Card Shark is not a conventional cards or casino game - in fact, it's not even a game that fits with the conventions of that world, Card Shark is rather a story of deceit and intrigue in 18th century France as the player moves through gambling halls using a variety of card tricks against an assortment of adversaries. Featuring a fantastic art style that's reminiscent of bandes dessinées, a captivating plot and characters and a series of tricks to learn, Card Shark would be even better if it was longer and featured more card tricks.
