There are not different materials for supports or road decks, and this is more of a puzzle game than an actual bridge construction simulator. It is a lot of fun though, and since Valve refuses to actually make games anymore, it's likely this is as close as you'll get to a new Portal game for years to come.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is an absolute blast to play and has a broad appeal that few other games can match. As long as you temper your expectations (and make sure you have a decent PC), then this is one of the top games of 2017 to check out.

If you thrill in playing games that represent the sweat and tears of a developer, Gorogoa is a great game to purchase. It's absolutely gorgeous, and I found it supremely meditative.

Destiny 2 Curse of Osiris was wholly underwhelming, and I hope very much that Bungie steps their game up for the second expansion.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is an outstanding title to finish out the Switch's first year on the market, and it's a must-have title if you're a fan of RPGs and own the system.

Maybe one day we'll play an Elder Scrolls game that's built for VR natively, but for now, Skyrim VR is the next best thing.

With patches, Monster of the Deep will likely improve, and there's a lot to enjoy here for players for which it does appeal. For most though, this title will be a hard pass.

If you haven't played Sun and Moon, or any entry in the series in a while, Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon is a great place to pick up the series again.

Skyrim is pretty much second only to Zelda: Breath of the Wild when it comes to action RPGs on this console.

You may be able to get [your money's worth] of fun out of Star Wars Battlefront 2, but don't expect the fun to last.

Call of Duty WW2 is the best game in the franchise in years.

Other than a few technical issues, I have to say the game exceeded my expectations. Sure, the story can be a little all over the place, but that's the cost of taking the franchise in a little more in-depth direction. The New Colossus firmly establishes the alternate universe that we were introduced to in The New Order and is an excellent foundation for future entries in the series.

If you're a die-hard Gran Turismo fan, or just can't get enough online racing, this would be a good pickup for you. Otherwise, you're better off with either of the other two big racers of the season.

I think Bomberman is cool and cute, but this title is not the launch that the Nintendo Switch deserved. By either offering more new content or pricing the game reasonably, Konami could have jump started the Bomberman franchise, which has been MIA for years. Instead, Super Bomberman R just doesn't give the value or the fun that the price commands.

By avoiding the pitfalls, other open-world adventures have made too often, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild makes itself an instant classic.

8 / 10 - For Honor
Feb 17, 2017

For Honor will inevitably be a favorite of mine. It combines easy to pick up, complicated to master fighting and action-style gameplay with compelling gameplay types and there's nothing quite like it. However, if you were looking for a single-player game, you might not want to purchase this title. The heart and soul of For Honor are its multiplayer modes, and unfortunately, at this time, there are enough issues with matchmaking and peer-to-peer connections that you may want to wait until Ubisoft has some time to fix those problems.

If you have an Oculus Rift headset and Oculus Touch, I heartily recommend Everest VR as a great way to introduce others to VR or as an awesome trip through the history of the world's highest mountain.

Sniper Elite 4 offers more of the same great gameplay that its predecessors were known for while tightening it up for the current generation.
