Solasta: Crown of the Magister tries to be the most authentic D&D adaptation in the video game form and it achieves that in spades. The whole thing may seem a little bit on the cliché and conservative side of RPG design but all the parts have been put together in such a good way that this adventure becomes quite thrilling to go through.

You don’t have to try so hard to find the inspirations that ENDER LILIES: Quietus of the Knights has taken from the most famous Metroidvania and souls-like titles but it’s not a bad thing at all. This is as standard as a video game in this genre gets and thankfully it doesn’t punish you harshly for the mistakes that you make which in turn makes it one of the most fun Metroidvanias in years.

Doing prequels for any well-established series is always very tricky but The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles manages to not only be very true to the franchise’s spirit prequel but also stand on its own as an exciting mystery adventure/visual novel videogame.

8.5 / 10.0 - Dreamscaper
Aug 4, 2021

Dreamscaper doesn’t try to do anything new but it does everything in a pretty satisfying fashion but it lacks a degrees of depth in the combat and social interaction systems to make it a truly memorable experience.

8.5 / 10.0 - art of rally
Aug 7, 2021

Art of rally is a beautiful love letter to the world of rally and its history and although the look of the game may feel like it is on the arcade side of the racing genre, it actually plays more like a challenging simulation.

8.5 / 10.0 - The Big Con
Aug 31, 2021

It is not easy to make a game about coning and robbing people on this personal of a level and not make the gamers feel bad about what they are doing but the developers behind The Big Con use the art style, comedic bits and the 1990s nostalgia in a way that this idea works in such a nice way that you will have a blast playing it, specially if you are a 90's kid.

8.5 / 10.0 - Bravely Default 2
Sep 11, 2021

As much as Square Enix are steering their flagships towards more fast-paced and modern gameplay philosophies, they are still committed to providing old-school JRPG experiences and you probably can’t get more old-school than Bravely Default II which brings you “the grind”, fun characters, beautiful backgrounds and also puts its own unique spin on one of the video game industry’s oldest formulas.

8.5 / 10.0 - Lost Judgment
Sep 25, 2021

Lost Judgment has improved enough on the last game’s core ideas and added some fun new systems to put its name forward as one of the best sequels in years. More importantly, the story deals with very timely issues that the real life decision makers don’t seem to be paying as much attention to as they should which we’ll have some dire consequences for all of us.

War Mongrels not only utilizes all the basic designs of Real Time Tactics genre in a satisfying way but also introduces a brilliant Combat Mode which totally changes the game’s genre, especially if you use co-op, and tells a different kind of second world war story with a lesser known class of characters of this conflict that in the end provides a pretty fun experience.

Rougelite/like is one of the most overused genre so trying to provide a truly new experience in this space that actually stands out in the crowd is really hard, fortunately Skul: The Hero Slayer has managed to put its own spin on this tired formula to become a title well-worth trying.

8.5 / 10.0 - Happy Game
Oct 27, 2021

Although the puzzles are not as intricate as Amanita Design’s previous game, the art style and the atmosphere it produces, once again demonstrates that this is one studio that always elevates video games as an art form. Throughout Happy Game you get bombarded with so many eerie scenes that it is totally possible to get psychologically scared which in turn make this a great Halloween gift.

8.5 / 10.0 - White Shadows
Dec 7, 2021

In the beginning, White Shadows feels like another Playdead-clone that is playing it safe but then it hits its stride and we are faced with a Tesla-punk/Fritz Lang inspired adventure that scares you as much as it makes laugh and cry, like a crazy roller coaster ride to the silent era movies in video game form.

8.5 / 10.0 - Expeditions: Rome
Jan 20, 2022

Expeditions: Rome asks a lot out of its players but if you are into its historical setting and a classic turn-based RPG design coupled with a kind of grand strategy system, it also gives a lot back to you in pure video game form of entertainment.

Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream keeps all the good parts of its predecessor while utilizing the some of the new ideas from the entries that have been released between the two adventures of Sophie while also tinkering with some of the old systems to make them more enjoyable. The story, which unlike most JRPGs thankfully doesn’t go the epic and blockbuster route, is told in a way that you feel compelled to unlock its mysteries.

8.5 / 10.0 - Ghostwire: Tokyo
Mar 21, 2022

It’s not every day that we get to experience a Japanese ghost story of this caliber in the world of video games but Ghostwire: Tokyo utilizes its setting in the best way possible and uses the audio-visual presentation to heighten the whole atmosphere even more. Although at the beginning the aiming has an imprecise feel to it, the combat is designed in a way that is quite fun and also leaves a room for experimentation but the open world’s structure feels a little outdated while the design of the city is great.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is a great addition to the Borderlands franchise and it brings back some of the comedic flair that felt lacking in the third main entry. Almost everyone knows about Star Wars and LEGO toys and about as much people are in love with them so putting these two brands together seventeen years ago was one of the best strokes of genius in the history of video games. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is the biggest and the most ambitious LEGO game so far and the final product is without a doubt one of the best , if not the best, LEGO games too.
