6.5 / 10.0 - South of the Circle
Jul 29, 2022

Like most of the games with the same style and gimmicks, South of the Circle fails to end its story in a satisfying way and bets all its chips on a twist ending that betrays the 3 to 4 hours of the experience that came before it. Also with the great audio-visual presentation here, one wonders why they didn’t just cut some of the unnecessary scenes and flashbacks and just release this as an animated feature.

Endling: Extinction is Forever may not be very challenging gameplay-wise but emotionally it is quite devastating. The developers have managed to deliver a good survival game with a very important message that deserves a lot of attention.

Zorro The Chronicles is a low stake but also quite competent action adventure game that is fun for both younger gamers and the older generations who grew up with many different iterations of Zorro’s adventures.

6 / 10.0 - Eternal Threads
May 28, 2022

There is a great potential here but the execution is quite lacking and not only in the the audio-visual presentation that is years behind but also the core gameplay which feels like it was sacrificed for the sake of narrative goals.

The so-called survival mechanics just get in the way of the fun, we all know that surviving apocalypse is supposed to be harsh and unforgiving but video games needs to be entertaining while challenging their audience which means all the intricate mechanics needs to have some balance which Decision: Red Daze sorely lacks.

The new gladiator class with its own unique abilities, tools and tricks are great expansions on the already brilliant combat system of the main game and the gladiator arenas all feel intricately designed and bring new ideas to the mythos of gladiator fights that’s been put in our minds by movies and novels.

The new campaign fixes the issues that some players had with the main campaign linearity by giving you more narrative altering choices and also providing more room for experimentation. The lack of any new class is more than offset by the nine new sub-classes that leads the already amazing combat to new and interesting avenues.

2 / 10.0 - B.I.O.T.A
Apr 12, 2022

Boring unimaginative gameplay, dumb cliché plot and about the worst visual style ever, makes B.I.O.T.A. something to avoid like the plague.

Putting special focus on the visuals has put Forgive Me Father in a different class from most boomer shooters and this coupled with magnificent sound effects delivers a unique atmosphere that elevates the high speed action that is the signature of this genre.

More than two decades since its original release, Chrono Cross is still one of the most innovative JRPGs with a brilliant plot and setting. Some of the quality of life improvements are very welcomed and the visual touch ups coupled with the option to just use the original graphics is also a big plus in the world of remasters.

Almost everyone knows about Star Wars and LEGO toys and about as much people are in love with them so putting these two brands together seventeen years ago was one of the best strokes of genius in the history of video games. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is the biggest and the most ambitious LEGO game so far and the final product is without a doubt one of the best , if not the best, LEGO games too.

9 / 10.0 - Fixfox
Apr 2, 2022

Whatever FixFox may lack in size of its budget compared to what we consider a mainstream open world title, it has ten times that in charm and heart.

5 / 10.0 - KUR

KUR has a nice kicking mechanism and nothing else that can be considered new or even fun and some of its parts like its attempts at being funny falls way short of the lowest of the standards.

No Place Like Home has its own charming take on the genre but when all is said and done, it doesn’t really do that much to make itself that different from the ever-growing farming sim rpgs.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is a great addition to the Borderlands franchise and it brings back some of the comedic flair that felt lacking in the third main entry. The fantasy world's design is equal parts beautiful and exciting which has led to some of the most intriguing comedic and action moments of the year so far that you shouldn't miss.

7.7 / 10.0 - The Ascent
Mar 25, 2022

The best assets of The Ascent are the visuals, the music and its lore and world building which has made Veles feel like a real living, kicking and breathing place but the gameplay feels just OK with a not so smooth UI.

8.5 / 10.0 - Ghostwire: Tokyo
Mar 21, 2022

It’s not every day that we get to experience a Japanese ghost story of this caliber in the world of video games but Ghostwire: Tokyo utilizes its setting in the best way possible and uses the audio-visual presentation to heighten the whole atmosphere even more. Although at the beginning the aiming has an imprecise feel to it, the combat is designed in a way that is quite fun and also leaves a room for experimentation but the open world’s structure feels a little outdated while the design of the city is great.

From pure gameplay standpoint, Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is one of the best action/rpgs ever which gives the players so many options to experiment with almost infinite number of builds and possibilities. Plot-wise and the use of music also feels like a love letter to not only the first Final Fantasy but the whole history of this franchise so it is very unfortunate that the game’s outdated visuals may turn off some of the audience from even trying it.

In the end, the Dawn of Ragnarok just doesn't quite connect with the main game in a satisfying way and its biggest additions to gameplay be accessed in the main adventure which in turn make it feel pointless.
