8 / 10.0 - LEGO The Hobbit
Apr 15, 2014

Lego The Hobbit is a good entry in the franchise made by Traveller's Tales. It manages to cherry-pick the best moments from the first two films and put a great Lego twist on the whole series. While it still has some glitches and the new crafting system will sometimes force you to grind areas for loot, it's still pretty fun.

9 / 10.0 - Trials Fusion
Apr 16, 2014

Trials Fusion is a great new entry into the franchise and marks a proper arrival of the series onto the new consoles. Its visuals are sharp, its gameplay is better than ever, and its few downsides don't prevent it from once again getting players addicted to its physics-based racing. The loading times are a bit long and navigating the interface isn't that great, but it's still worth it.

Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition is a good new experience on the PS4, particularly for those who didn't get a chance to indulge in the PS3 version. Its visuals are much better, the DLC modes are quite fun, and the Twitch chat function should certainly motivate players to start broadcasting their gameplay. However, the soundtrack is a bit disappointing, and playing alone can cause boredom in extended sessions.

9.5 / 10.0 - Child of Light
Apr 28, 2014

Child of Light is a hugely fun and memorable experience. The combat is intense, the visuals are unique, and the soundtrack elevates the whole game to a new level. While it might get a bit ambiguous about your goals at some points in the story, it's still really good and well worth the investment.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is a brave attempt at forging a good game based on the famous hero. While some mechanics work, like the web slinging, others fail, i.e. the Hero/Menace system, and others get tedious after a while, like the combat.

8.5 / 10.0 - Full Bore
May 7, 2014

Full Bore is a challenging puzzle platformer that requires thought and dedication. You have all the skills needed to explore its open world, but that doesn't mean it's easy to do that, so expect a lot of retries and aimless wandering around until you figure out the best solutions.

The Walking Dead Season 2 Episode 3: In Harm's Way manages to up the ante of Clementine's new adventures in a great way while developing her character, not just the people that surround her. New survivors are introduced and it's going to be interesting to see if the little girl can continue making grown-up choices.

9.5 / 10.0 - Transistor
May 20, 2014

Transistor is a really spectacular experience. It provides a great story, a unique weapon, and a combat system that can be as simple or as complex as you want. Throw in the splendid graphics and the impressive soundtrack and you'll have a great time. While the regular adventures may become a bit tedious, you can always relax in the backdoor area and engage in its different challenges. The boss fights can also feel a bit cheap sometimes, but they're still pretty good.

Full Mojo Rampage is a delightful twin-stick shooter that takes the best elements from rogue-like titles and adds a lot of personality. Expect a really challenging experience but also a fun and varied one that rewards persistence.

8.5 / 10.0 - Watch Dogs
May 26, 2014

Watch Dogs is a fun open world experience. However, the repetitive chases and the formulaic gameplay tend to get tedious and boring after a while. As such, you might want to enjoy the different multiplayer experiences and take frequent breaks to just roam around the city.

The Wolf Among Us Episode 4: In Sheep's Clothing is by far one of the most engaging in the series, managing to bring together the many plot threads spun and finally setting the stage for the final chapter in the adventure series. While it may not have that much actual gameplay, the dialog is captivating and the few confrontations are intense, to say the least.

Murdered: Soul Suspect could have been a really fun detective experience, but it's actually an average point and click mystery game with higher production values. The possession mechanic is underutilized, while the game uses the demons to create a fake sense of difficulty towards the end. The story is good, but the road towards its conclusion is filled with problems.

8.5 / 10.0 - Anomaly Defenders
Jun 3, 2014

Anomaly Defenders is a good final hurrah for the tower defense series from 11 Bit Studios. It has gorgeous maps, fun and hectic gameplay, and a lot of strategic opportunities via the deployable powers and the complex tech tree. What's more, the difficulty modes that affect the layout of the maps are quite impressive.

Wolfenstein: The New Order is a great reimagining of the series, delivering a fun experience to shooter fans, while bringing a good story and some solid mechanics that feel fresh but still know the roots of the franchise. The stealth could have used a bit of improvement, but Wolfenstein is still a shooter at its heart and works very well in a delightful old-school way.

Valiant Hearts: The Great War is a truly impressive experience that manages to focus on the realities of World War 1 without becoming a dull or upsetting experience. It adds just enough cheerful moments to stay upbeat and you're certainly going to care and fall in love with the main characters, especially the small dog.

7.5 / 10.0 - GRID Autosport
Jun 26, 2014

Grid Autosport is a pretty fun racing title, but in the pursuit of addressing every bit of feedback after Grid 2, Codemasters hasn't delivered the most cohesive experience. You still need to endure some of the disciplines that you may not like in order to progress through the career, and the two cockpit cameras feel more like a fan-made mod than something devised by the developer itself. Throw in the erratic AI and you might get annoyed quite a few times while playing Autosport.

7 / 10.0 - Sniper Elite III
Jul 1, 2014

Sniper Elite 3 is a relatively fun niche shooter experience that improves some of the faults seen in its predecessors, particularly in regards to mission design and the open nature of levels. It's still weighed down by bugs, erratic AI, and a shoddy story, but it will certainly entertain fans of the franchise and those looking for a thinking man's shooter experience.

The Wolf Among Us Episode 5 delivers a stellar conclusion to the adventures of Bigby Wolf. There are great conflicts in terms of dialog and combat, so players will be solicited in all sorts of ways. It also displays Bigby in all his big bad wolf glory and leaves a fair amount of possibilities for a likely second season of series.

5 / 10.0 - Concursion
Jul 15, 2014

Concursion has a great idea but, unfortunately, it manages to waste most of its potential due to glaring issues with the controls, the difficulty curve, not to mention the awful visuals. The boss fights reward only the most patient players and, in true retro style, if you can't complete a level, you can't progress any further.

The Walking Dead Season 2 Episode 4: Amid The Ruins is probably the bleakest episode in the new series so far, but this isn't a bad thing. The dialogue and conversations are top-notch and there are lots of decisions that need to be taken by players and Clementine, whether they like it or not. Results appear immediately, but quite a few ones are delayed until the final chapter in the series, called No Going Back.
