The first game definitely carved a name in the Roguelike genre, after a period of Early Access and releases on Xbox and Switch Rogue Legacy 2 is a fantastic experience that kept what make the first game so successful and improving a lot of elements elevating the whole experience to a new level.

If you asked me how viable a game like DOOM in acid might be, my answer definitely would have been no. Post Void kind of proves me wrong, the game is a solid and short experience that definitely is worth a shot in case you're looking for a different FPS experience in consoles.

Super Meat Boy was lightning in a bottle and the IP has been trying to replicate this success ever since, Dr. Fetus' Mean Meat Machine is one of the most interesting spin-offs. The whole Puyo Puyo gameplay is good but not enough to support many ideas the game have in store so everything ends up feeling not quite cohesive.

Trifox definitely have some great ideas in mind and the idea of mixing a Twin Stick Shooter with a Platformer could be a fantastic project. Unfortunately the game feels like they just placed both mechanics and called it a day, instead of try and merge them in a fun or different way.

LEGO 2K Drive is a pretty fun and charismatic game, Visual Concepts nailed the driving part. The cinematics are quite funny regarding characters or some concrete events inside the narrative. Unfortunately the game might feel repetitive with time and the whole "explore the map" so you can find the activities or collectibles is not as good as you might think.

CONVERGENCE was a surprise. As someone that isn't too keen on League of Legends lore, the game commits to a balance between Lore fans and newcomers with a lot of success. For a Metroidvania, the exploration is pretty straight forward and quite simple if you're looking for a deeper experience in the Genre.

Terra Nil is a fantastic strategy game, one that only an studio like Free Lives could have developed. The idea of an inverted 4X where the objective is create more nature and reduce the human footprint works great in hindsight, that being said some mechanics are not as intuitive as you might think specially in the latest leg of the game.

The 10th Anniversary version of Q.U.B.E. is ideal for the people that played the original and wants to see a new side of the game with the Director's Cut content. Using queues we saw in Portal and it's sequel, is definitely a noteworthy game although narrative issues might bring the experience down if you want a more conclusive story.

Strayed Lights is one of those small but curious games. The game leans into the parrying mechanic you might find in a soulslike and centers around it creating a great gameplay loop that might be a little bit short for some people, but is worth the experience.

LUNARK is a solid reminder of how interesting and creative were the Cinematic Platformers and even with the downsides of the genre, Johan Vinet and Canari Games crafted a fantastic game and definitely one worth checking out.

Curse of the Sea Rats is one of those games with a lot of good ideas, but its execution leaves a lot to be desired. The characters and its fight styles are pretty good but the map and navigation across the whole game is definitely not that good.

Ravenlok is a game with a predictive narrative and protagonist that is not as charismatic as the rest of the cast, but is a short and enjoyable experience with solid combat and a quite striking visual flair. The puzzles might be a little more intuitive but is a fun game you should play if you want something easy going.

TRON Identity reduces the franchise in a game without disk battles like TRON Evolution, but it focuses in a deep story about the Grid and more on replayability. Even if the game was short, I was quite eager to see what could change in every run if I chose differently.

Meet Your Maker is a great mix between Base Building and an Action Roguelike, the game does used the ideas to the fullest but the content can feel stale after a while. Is pretty common to see some fantastic (and tricky) bases but the gadgets and weapons part leaves a big hole that can't be filled only with the building part.

Hi-Fi Rush is just impressive. Not only coming of a studio that focuses on Terror, but also for showing us a new IP in a way different genre we would expect from Tango. The game have a lot of heart and is visually stunning, its accessibility features are great for people that isn't good for Rhythm games or just wanna have a breezy time.

LEAP is a game that has good foundations, but the rest of the game leaves a lot to be desired. The game modes are interesting but the slow progression and inability to change class during a mission, definitely make it feel like a lesser FPS although the movement mechanics is quite interesting even if is not that great as you might find in Apex Legends or a Titanfall game.

Planet Cube: Edge is a good game, but some design issues hold the game back. The aesthetic is there and definitely some fans of harder games like Super Meat Boy, VVVVVVV, Celeste, The End is Nigh and more might give it a chance, but it feels that might be too aggressive for a casual gamer.

Scars Above is a game that have a lot of ideas but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. The game feels like a lesser version of Returnal with pacing and animation problems, that being said the game does have some neat concepts (specially the combined damage), but it doesn't get the time it deserves and feels a little bit undercooked.

For veterans, Engage can feel like a step back specially after how good Three Houses was, but Intelligent Systems definitely tried to appeal to casuals and veterans with some hits and some misses. Still, Engage is a fantastic strategy game for both audiences and a great Fire Emblem game.

Dead Space is a fantastic remake. Not only respects what made the original so beloved, but also improves the game in different ways taking into account the improvements from its sequels and mechanics we see in 2023. This is the best version whether you're revisiting the game or playing it for the first time.
