"EA Sports UFC 5" is an absolutely worthy successor to its now three-year-old predecessor. Above all, the change from the honorably graying Ignite engine to the Frostbite engine is good for the martial arts series. EA Sports UFC 5 looks great and captures the vibe of UFC matches and events. However, it should also be mentioned at this point that there are sometimes mistakes and unintentionally funny contortions in the hectic fighting. Nevertheless, the confrontations are tactical and at the same time wonderfully powerful: Thanks to the sophisticated body model, punches and kicks leave their mark and have a massive effect on the course of the game. And even if the offline career is treading water, "EA Sports UFC 5" offers plenty of play for the money with its wide roster and diverse options.

In NHL 24, EA Sports focuses on improving the gameplay experience where it matters: On the ice. The addition of the exhaust-engine, the pressure system and the new controls work in favour of the overall gameplay. A reboot looks different. Only on the pitch does "EA Sports FC 24" live up to the new name and shows that there is also a spark of innovation in the game. Thanks to the new animation technology and balancing adjustments, "EA Sports FC 24" is superior to its predecessor. The action on the pitch seems more unpredictable, dynamic and authentic. Although the duels and also the playing styles could use a little fine-tuning, this innovation is good for the game. In combination with the upgraded presentation, this creates an atmospheric football experience. On the other hand, however, there is stagnation in a large part of the game modes, crowned by an even increased pay-to-win focus in Ultimate Team. EA Sports must therefore once again lend a hand to some adjusting screws and expand its career options in particular for the future.

NBA 2K24 is a superb sports-gameplay. It delivers high-level basketball on the court and also presents the action like a modern TV-broadcast. Along with a lot of basketball-nostalgia and tons of game-modes, "NBA 2K24" is an overall better package than its predecessor. However, microtransactions and the pay-to-win-mentality seriously hurt two of its two main game moves and leave a bad taste in everyone's mouth.

"Immortals of Aveum" surprised us positively for long stretches, but above all it entertained us very well. Despite obvious weaknesses, such as the overall boring game world and the story, which is too much based on fantasy clichés, the first-person adventure always brought us back to the action. The fights are very varied thanks to the wide range of magic possibilities and, despite all the speed, also offer a good deal of complexity and tactics. The controls prove to be first-class during battles or even exploration of the environment. And even though "Immortals of Aveum" would certainly have been more possible in terms of story and game world, the game still delivers over 20 hours of good shooter entertainment.

Ride 5 makes another small step into the right direction. The overall atmospheric career is a solid foundation, but also lacks additional production-value in its presentation. "MotoGP 23" misses out on a direct jump to pole position. Because as coherent as some new features such as the dynamic weather or the extended tutorials are, the game unfortunately lacks depth and atmosphere off the track. The presentation is as staid as usual, and the gameplay remains too niche to really convince every racing fan to get started. Problems in the game balance and in the long-term effect are added. "MotoGP 23" offers intense and realistic racing action for those who don't care about the trappings.

After many years of "early retirement", "EA Sports PGA Tour" is at its best. The action on the course is clearly in the foreground: The golf gameplay convinces and is pleasantly demanding thanks to stroke variations and adjustments. For beginners, there are help functions and challenges that help you overcome initial difficulties. The career mode is motivating and, with its many customization and optimization options, offers sufficient scope for longer sessions. Overall, however, this type of game is unfortunately also presented in a very unspectacular way. Even with a comparatively quiet sport like golf, there is simply more. All in all, however, "EA Sports PGA Tour" delivers well in its comeback and is technically a real feast for the eyes.
