Ember Lab showed enormous competence with Kena: Bridge of Spirits, the first game in its history. A beautiful plot that transports us to a whole new world and a game with challenges and activities that will please everyone. I'm looking forward to seeing what else they can bring in the future, whether in the form of a sequel or even a new narrative.

What to talk about Tetris in 2021? Based on what I experienced in Tetris Effect: Connected, I can say that we have here one of the most remarkable presentations of a classic game that defies time. It's that old game that still captivates, amuses and challenges. A worthy game for puzzle fans in a vigorous and technically perfect experience of an eternal classic.

8 / 10.0 - Evertried
Oct 21, 2021

Evertried is further proof that Brazil has the potential for good games, especially in the indie scenario. Knowing that a game as good as this one was made here gives a little warmth to the heart. Also, it's a great addition to the roguelike genre.

5.5 / 10.0 - Backbone
Nov 14, 2021

Once again, I'll reinforce the praise I made to the game's art direction, one of its most powerful aspects. Other than that, the nonsensical script and the abandonment of gameplay elements that could be put to much better use make the Backbone experience, overall, disappointing and worth keeping as a bad memory.

Having Mr. DRILLER DrillLand back and available to a wide range of players is something to behold as it is a cute, fun, colorful and upbeat game that is a treat for puzzle fans. Like every amusement park, our intention is always to come back to play a little more. Historically, it also rescues the legacy of Namco (now Bandai Namco), a company that has made industry history with titles that have always focused on delivering the core of an electronic game: challenge and fun.

In the end, my experience with Treasures of the Aegean was mixed. At first, it was a little weird, getting more interesting after a few loops and, by the end, it was a little confusing as I learned what to do to advance through the game along with the heroine. It's compelling for those who love exploration and puzzles demanding a healthy dose of dedication for those who wish to unveil the mysteries of Thera.

7.5 / 10.0 - Chorus
Dec 4, 2021

Chorus is a good mix for those who enjoy the science fiction genre, as well as a great choice for those who love action games with a lot of combat, agility and challenge. Easily one of the best of the year for those looking for action in the space pilot genre.

Asterix & Obelix: Slap Them All! is a good addition to the beat ’em up genre but it doesn't bring much value to the genre itself compared to other titles released in the last few years. It's clearly more intended for casual players and a good experience for fans of the Goscinny & Uderzo comics. It lacks a healthy swig of magic potion to make the game really powerful.

8 / 10.0 - Heavenly Bodies
Dec 17, 2021

Despite the various tantrums I had during the journey, Heavenly Bodies proved to be a different and fun experience. Here we have an interesting combination of activities in the form of puzzles that play with physics in an ingenious and creative way, testing the player's patience and astuteness when solving problems that seem simple but become complicated in space.

As a game, Clockwork Aquario is a clearly dated product that would have little room in the modern world, now extremely bloated with daily released games, something that couldn't be conceived back in the day. However, it's a valuable historical piece from a time that feels nostalgic, and still inspires people who develop and create games nowadays.

7.5 / 10.0 - RPGolf Legends
Jan 15, 2022

We have here a mixture that curiously works where it really needs it. It's an RPG adventure with charisma and a fun golf game. The use of mechanics and peculiarities of each genre complement each other in a way that makes RPGolf Legends an authentic “action RPGolf”.

9.5 / 10.0 - Windjammers 2
Jan 20, 2022

Windjammers 2 is a perfect sequel. While honoring its origins, it renews and revitalizes an arcade experience that remains extremely fun, competitive, and exciting. Another excellent job by Dotemu in rescuing a game we didn't know we needed so much.

1 / 10.0 - NERF Legends
Jan 22, 2022

Nerf Legends colossally fails as a product, game, or anything else it tried to be. It can't even be enjoyable or dumb enough to at least be funny. It wouldn't even be worth it if it was free to play. And if it was, maybe it had a chance because of the multiplayer. It's even a bad advertising for a cool toy that exists in the real world.

Demoniaca: Everlasting Night has good ideas in a genre that's already solid but fails to make them work in a way that contributes positively to the experience. The theme is cool, the story is a good headstart but the way is filled with slip-ups on gameplay, visual effects and lacking mechanics, points that would be necessary for it to really leave a lasting impression. It's a game that could have been very good but doesn't hit the mark.

7 / 10.0 - Maglam Lord
Feb 14, 2022

In the end, Maglam Lord isn't a reference for action RPGs or the best visual novel, but it mixes a little of their aspects, making a charismatic, fun and excellent title for someone who wants something more casual. It's more like a date rather than a [title to have a] serious relationship [with].

8.5 / 10.0 - Infernax
Feb 15, 2022

Here we have another great product from the independent scene. Highlighting its simple gameplay, a very well-made retro aesthetic and a nice incentive for new runs, Infernax is a great choice for those looking for a balance between fun and challenge within the platform action genre. Recommended and favorited in my 2022 games list.

Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires remains a title aimed only at those who want to participate in the chaotic combats that are a hallmark of the musou genre, and despite having this element, it's not as satisfying as its original version. The excessive repetitiveness and with little varied objectives in the combats, and the excess of information and situations that must be managed by the player are points that leave the general experience quite dull and uninteresting after a few hours.

7 / 10.0 - Relayer
Feb 26, 2022

Relayer is a product that ventures out into the universe of SRPGS bringing with it two very different layers of the genre. On one side, it has the mechanics and evolution systems that instigate players to create their group of heroes and make them very powerful; on the other, the story insists on taking the highlight to itself but doesn't have the appeal to turn into something really interesting thanks to its characters, which, most of the time, do not feel like worthy additions, and a narrative with a great theme but shallow and mediocre execution.

Project_Hel is a subtle but competent expansion of the Ghostrunner universe to hold the player a little more in this electrifying gaming experience. Despite not innovating much in the mechanics, the new stages raise the level of challenge that already seemed to have reached the limit in the original game to a formidable, and stressful level.

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is a great addition to the list of numerous titles and genres already presented by the franchise over 35 years of history. The game unites mythology and gameplay in a strange way, but it works. It lives up to the reputation of Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo Games when it comes to action, delivering a product that has the responsibility to honor the franchise. Yes, it is unlike anything that has been done with the franchise and has its reasons for being a Final Fantasy game that only has its name on the cover. However, in the end, the game is audacious and it's able to leave the franchise's comfort zone.
