Daniel Waite's Reviews

My gaming career started on an Amiga and spans many consoles! Currently, I game using an MSI laptop and Xbox Series X. A fan of every genre, I love to give anything a go. Former editor and reviewer for www.bonusstage.co.uk, I'm loving my new home here at Movies Games and Tech. I can be contacted for gaming reviews on the following email: Daniel@moviesgamesandtech.com

The road to redemption is a long and winding path. I will not spoil it for you and trying it out for yourself is the only way you’ll discover Cahal’s fate. If you play this, you’ll be experiencing a well-designed game that; looks, sounds, and feels great. You’ll be at home almost immediately with the controls, and you get to decide how each mission unfolds. So, do I recommend it? Of course, so buy it here! The life of a Garou is tough. But the Wyrm must be stopped, and the Wyld and Gaia protected at all costs.

I enjoyed my time with this VN, in particular the fun characters and touching undertones in the love story. Yet, I’m still not converted to be a lover of Otome. Do I recommend it? Yes, if you are open to which genre you read, then this will be a game you’ll enjoy. If I’ve inspired you, a copy can be purchased here! Who will take off their mask first? Bravery, friendship and love will thrive in this colourful romantic tale.

3 / 10.0 - Another Dawn
Feb 3, 2021

I’m a “The glass is half full” sort of man. I like to see the positives in everything. Another Dawn pushed me to my limits. With few redeeming qualities, and mainly broken elements that are unacceptable in today’s industry, there is little to be cheery about. The premise is sound, with some interesting lighting effects, and well designed music. But these parts are glued together with some unwelcome and poorly executed vital mechanics. I cannot, and will not, recommend that you buy this. However, a link to the store is here is you wish to tarnish your library. It’s a poorly executed mess that is as broken as it is dated.

There is no denying it, this is a tough nut to crack. But with effort comes reward! For all its intricacies and quirks, you’ll find yourself with a fantastically challenging experience. It does enough to compare it fondly to it its peer group, but its list of bugs and high difficulty keeps it from excelling. Do I recommend it? I do! If you wish to try this massive RPG for yourself, then buy it here! Choose your path, influence your people, and explore the world. 100+ hours of gameplay await you in this D&D inspired title.

8 / 10.0 - Habroxia 2
Feb 1, 2021

There have been some classic Shoot-’em-up games published, and Habroxia 2 is up there as one of the best. Every element works, with its classic graphics, thumping audio, simple controls and excessive replay value. This will keep you playing for hours. A stunning example of a Shmup that will have you screaming with rage and crying for joy! Every developer should look at this as the blueprint of what makes the genre great. I absolutely recommend this, so buy your copy here! Can Sabrina avenge her father’s disappearance? Jump in your ship, upgrade its equipment, and destroy every alien you see.

9 / 10.0 - Hitman 3
Jan 31, 2021

The phrase, “Save the best until last” is apt here. IO Interactive has created a fantastic conclusion to this much loved series. Tying up all the loose ends with the game merging was a stroke of genius. Though it doesn’t reinvent the wheel in its approach to new killing methods or weapons. This familiarity works brilliantly for its many fans, and even better for those who have never tried it. It flaunts its single player status like a badge of honour, and this is part of what makes it great. If you are after a superb, tactical stealth game, then look no further. I absolutely recommend this, and it can be purchased here! Can you take on each of Agent 47’s contracts and come out on top? Will you go unnoticed, or kill everyone in sight? The choice is yours, just get the job done.

8 / 10.0 - Ride 4
Jan 30, 2021

An outstanding racing game should challenge you, and Ride 4 does more than that. You will scream with joy and rage as you experience the highs and lows of riding on 2 wheels. This is not a title that you will be able to pick up and compete in over night. You must invest many hours in understanding the finer points before you excel. The effort is well rewarded, as you are treated to the most realistic biking game ever. Do I recommend it? Absolutely! If you love an adrenaline boost, racing, or bikes, then buy this game here! Put on your leathers, customise your bike, and set out to become the champion of the world.

6.5 / 10.0 - Tennis World Tour 2
Jan 29, 2021

There were no high expectations when starting this, and it didn’t wow or blow me away. It delivered exactly what I thought it would; a fun, challenging and updated tennis experience. For lovers of the sport and genre, you will appreciate this much more than I ever will. I’m not willing to invest the time required to excel at this, but I still get to enjoy a well made title with some minor annoyances. Do I recommend you play this? I do, but to get the most out of it you must love tennis. If you want to own a copy for yourself, then it can be purchased here! It’s time to pick up that racket, create your player and become a ‘GOAT’.

7.5 / 10.0 - Bonkies
Jan 28, 2021

Rage, rage, rage! If you ever wanted a game to test your patience, this is it. For every copy purchased, a free controller should be offered as this is guaranteed to make you angry. If you can get through this without swearing, or clenching your fists, then you deserve a medal. A brilliantly fun game that will get under your skin and cause that awful twitchy vein thing in your forehead! With everything considered, do I recommend it? Hell yes! It made me angry, made me want to cry, and I made noises I didn’t know existed. It’s tough as hell, super addictive, and a game you simply have to put in your library. Get it now on your Xbox by buying it here! A short time discount is available so don’t miss out! Can you help the Bonkies on their path through space? Time, patience, luck, and a lot of controllers will help you get to the finish.

For all the negatives that I’ve noted, and the all too familiar plot and game style, I enjoyed myself. The artistry is fantastic, and the world that is created is both beautiful and daunting in equal measure. The audio is fantastic, mostly and will transport you to the fantasy setting with ease. The dialogue is badly translated in places and leads to some odd moments that are devoid of emotion or sense. Is this worth adding to your library? I think so. Not a classic by any stretch, but it does enough to warrant being part of your library if you are a fan of the RPG genre. If you want a copy, it can be purchased here! Can you survive the Reaping? Plan your every move and hope for luck in this world that the gods have forgotten.

7.5 / 10.0 - Stories Untold
Jan 24, 2021

The joy of other titles within this market is the length of episodes that you get at each release. A fair amount of content is dropped in each instalment, so if No Code hadn’t taken the approach they had, then this would have been a failure. If you take this game on, you’ll get around 4 hours playtime, which isn’t bad value as it costs less than £9. A copy can be purchased here if you so desire! Do I recommend it? Other than its few shortcomings, it’s a great game and one you should have in your library. Will you be able to gather the clues to solve the puzzles? Play through each of the 4 episodes and link the bizarre plot together, one piece at a time.

I cannot stress enough how wonderful Projection: First Light looks. It’s a well-rounded piece that uses an unusual twist on an old concept. The style reinforces the history behind puppetry, and the graphics and audio create a lush and emotive landscape. However, its key mechanic is its main drawback, forcing it to plateaus early as a consequence, and this impacts the desire to play. Do I recommend it? I do. Only because it’s a masterpiece to look at and listen to. If you want a copy, it can be purchased here! Be warned though, you’ll be balancing beauty with frustration. Can you help Greta manipulate the light and travel the world? Patience and a glowing butterfly are all you need to succeed.

7 / 10.0 - Unspottable
Jan 22, 2021

With a lack of online play, it will restrict its audience, but I believe it’s hit the market at the right time. A captive crowd will love to compete and beat each other in this fun title. Do I recommend it? I do. It’s fun, simple, and will make you all have an argument. Think Monopoly, but finished much quicker. Available for £9.99 it can be purchased here if you fancy the latest party game to land on the virtual shelves. Blend in, observe your surroundings, and punch the life out of each other. Hide and Seek has never been so brutal, or such fun!

7 / 10.0 - Ocean's Heart
Jan 21, 2021

Overall, despite not being a massive fan of its combat, Ocean’s Heart turned out to be quite a pleasant surprise. It can be as much of a soothing adventure as it can be challenging, as the peaceful exploration heavily contrasts with some of the boss encounters. It took me about 14 hours to complete the game, but I still have a couple of side-quests to finish. All in all, the game doesn’t overstay its welcome. It manages to stay and feel relatively fresh, by continuously introducing a few small mechanics throughout your adventure. In the end, this is an easy recommendation from me, especially if you’re a fan of games like Blossom Tales. I wouldn’t say that this is a MUST PLAY, as the game isn’t groundbreaking in any way, but it certainly can be fun, and that’s what matters in the end.

You know that you’re onto a winner when a game gets under your skin. Ravegan has successfully created that “just one more try” title that keeps you playing for hours. The simplicity of the premise, combined with the complexity of the game mechanics and approach, makes this a very addictive title to play. With an amazing combination of looks and sounds, easy and responsive controls and humour laced gameplay, it’s a modern day classic in the making. Do I recommend it? Yes, yes, yes! So buy it here! Can you help the 3 creatures take down the invaders and reclaim their homelands? Buy a copy, pick your favourite creature, and banish your red enemies for good!

7 / 10.0 - Going Under
Jan 14, 2021

I have my demons whenever I play Roguelite or like games, but I’m glad I placed my concerns to one side and tried this one. The humour and many tasks heavily outweighed the annoyance of losing my gear and I enjoyed my time with it, mostly. Do I recommend it? Of course. It’s a; colourful, fun, fast-paced and enjoyable title that can be played casually. Can you make Jackie the best intern Fizzle Beverages has ever seen? Grab the nearest object and smash every monster in your path, your internship depends on it.

I enjoyed my time playing this, but I can’t say that I’m an avid fan of the genre. Monster Sanctuary does so much more than most of its peers, yet I still wasn’t sold on the concept. If you are a lover of these games, then playing this will be right up your street. But if you’re on the fence, now is the correct time to try it as part of your Gamepass subscription. Do I recommend that you give it a go? Absolutely. Hunting monsters is nothing new, but what this does so well is to build on many well loved mechanics, and enhance them to make for a much more polished and in-depth experience. Can you be the best Monster Keeper in the land? Can you beat everyone else and hatch the best beasts around? Choose your starting monster and begin your journey of discovery.

8 / 10.0 - Iris.Fall
Jan 13, 2021

This was one monochromatic journey that I adored. The stunning visuals, atmospheric audio, creepy imagery, and accessible puzzles make this a game that should be purchased. Yes, the game mechanics have been done to death, and the eerie concept is as old as the hills, yet the combined elements work in perfect harmony. It will not surprise you that I recommend that you should play Iris Fall, I just wish all indie developers could take a leaf out its book. Following a black cat into a weird world was a big mistake, but can you overcome all the puzzles and get to the other side? I’m pretty sure you can.

Were losing hours of sleep and years of my life worth it? Probably not, but I had a fun time, mostly. Every class you select is enjoyable with a new and distinct way of approaching situations. The PVE/PVP argument is as predictable as ever, and you will sit comfortably on one side or the other. The sandbox and realism touches were an interesting concept, if a bit flawed. I liked how your effort met with in game reward, and this meant that every role that is taken has a meaning and a use. The fighting is good, even if you consider the annoyance of the combo system and the confusion with the skill tree. I recommend this, but it will consume your life. If you want to take on a unique MMORPG with beautiful audio and stunning graphics, then look no further than Black Desert.
