Dagon: Complete Edition is an interesting experiment in interactive literary dissemination. Over the course of an hour and a half, we go through four short stories by H. P. Lovecraft recreated in three-dimensional settings, atmospheric narration, immersive sounds and explanations of the contexts surrounding the writings. Although the most control we have is to move the camera around to look around the subtle but unsettling environments, the whole thing is an immersive foray into dark territory that is worth a visit for those already familiar and for those who want a simple introduction to the territory of the patron saint of cosmic horror.

By confining gameplay to groups of four people, whether locally or online, All You Need is Help restricts the ways we can enjoy its simple but cute and fun ideas for a while. This practical limitation doesn't fit with the game's casual intent, which also doesn't attempt to deepen the gameplay to the point of being a memorable cooperative puzzler.

On the one hand, Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templar Reforged disguises its age with beautifully drawn visuals, more appropriate to today's aesthetics, and accessibility incentives, but there's no hiding the fact that this is a point and click adventure from the 1990s. A mystery story full of dialogue, ironic and cartoonish humor, simple mechanics, investigation more by trial and error than by deduction; all of this is presented in a consistent way, showing that the strength of the classic remains. What will really make the difference here is whether these things entertain you or if they are far from your taste.

Though maculated by various small technical issues and those coming from the design standpoint, Enotria: The Last Song manages to offer a thrilling experience through a splendid mythical Italy. The vast scenery composed of dazzling locales are very well designed and encourages the exploration of every single corner, and it's reinforced by the forks in the ways and the balance of its souslike style where generosity surpasses punishment."

Although it meets the will of those who wanted more Prince of Persia, Mask of Darkness is not an essential chapter to the base game. The difficulty found shows that the target audience of the expansion is those who appreciated the precision platform segments, but the expansion does not add much beyond that, not even in story and art direction. In the end, it is good content to play, but relatively unnecessary, recommended only for enthusiasts.

After rescuing cartoons from obscurity, Epic Mickey himself needed to be rescued to return to action with modernized visuals and gameplay. Thus, Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed is a remake that improves on what came before and highlights the aspects that were already good in the mouse's unusual dark adventure, but its inconsistencies cannot hide the fact that the basis came from a more limited era.

With eye-catching visuals, an identity overflowing with youthful vivacity, and a delightful metalinguistic mix that unites gameplay and narrative, The Brave Squire seeks at once to draw inspiration from past legacies and imprint a unique amalgam. The low challenge may not please some because it seems that the great ideas were not properly used, but for others, honest fun will be all that matters in the adventure of Pontinho and his friends.

Astro Bot continues the good work of representing the history of PlayStation and opening smiles with countless adorable references, but it has much more than that to offer, being a fun, creative, dynamic and beautiful game in every detail, deserving a place in the pantheon of the best 3D platformers of all time.

Bringing together three of the best metroidvanias of the past, with many extras and some quality of life features, Castlevania Dominus Collection fulfills its role of preservation, elegant presentation to a new audience and, of course, fun.

Shadow of the Ninja: Reborn is a good remake that reinvents the original game with a lot of beauty, without losing the spirit of futuristic 8-bit and 16-bit ninja games. However, this also means that the controls are rigid and the level of difficulty can be an obstacle for part of the public, making it more recommended for those who like to replay the levels to learn, gradually mastering the game until they manage to finish their six stages.

Kyle Thompson gets it right once again and makes Crypt Custodian his best metroidvania, easy to recommend. In this world from above, we have a vast and interconnected map, exciting bosses to defeat, more than 100 collectibles to find, and a story of captivating lightness and simplicity. On top of that, Pluto's adventure in the afterlife is an example to be followed in quality of life features that value the experience of those who play.

Overall, The Case of the Golden Idol manages to enter the niche of good detective games that require real attention and reasoning in their investigations. Its retro look is well applied, but it may not be to everyone's taste. The mysteries are intriguing, provide good challenges and also have a hint system for those who are more comfortable with them.

Hidden Through Time 2: Discovery keeps the series smooth fun. If it were a DLC rather than a standalone game, it would make HTT2 a whole greater than the sum of its parts by building on and augmenting everything we've seen in Myths & Magic in Architect mode and its online creations. In this way, however, we only have the strangeness of seeing a sequence separated into two isolated parts that, even though they are good in themselves, divide forces instead of adding them.

The greatest merit of Deathbound is its successful execution of the concept of alternating multiple characters during combat. Both the narrative and the systems revolve around this concept, giving the game a cohesive identity that sets it apart from other soulslikes. Although some aesthetic and practical issues limit parts of the experience, it is a game I certainly recommend to fans of the genre.

With improved visuals and subtle gameplay changes, Cat Quest III maintains its strengths and improves the series in almost everything except the narrative. It's a solo or cooperative pirate adventure that doesn't extend beyond what is necessary and isn't afraid to be cute, silly and humorous, being a guarantee of fun for those who like the series and inviting for newcomers.

MARS 2120 has the potential for a good game and even succeeds in visuals and tool versatility, but execution problems and an early-looking release prevent it, in its current state, from reaching the average in a medium as prolific as today's metroidvanias.

With its ups and downs, Tales of Kenzera: ZAU manages to make the experience worthwhile and still stands out in some areas, especially in the deeply human narrative and the art of the scenarios. The simplicity of the campaign is a double-edged sword: it may please beginners, but it may not satisfy those who want a deeper challenge and exploration.

Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus is stunning, atmospheric, fun, and challenging. It's a great metroidvania that, even without being too original, uses the right inspirations to paint like few others a Japanese fable of contemplative beauty and rewarding agility.

Quiet and aesthetically pleasing, SCHiM has good ideas about the use of shadows in 3D platforming, but doesn't make efficient use of them enough to stand out as it could.

Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition is not only the definitive version of Jade's adventure, but an example of how remasters of games from that era can feature relevant improvements and add extras to celebrate the historical legacy of these works. Some more dragged aspects have not aged very well and remind us of the age of the game, but the charisma of the adventure and the good use of the opening of the compact world still make it deserve this well-cared for return.
