Critic Reviews for Dagon: Complete Edition
Dagon: Complete Edition is intriguing in the way many visual novels are. While its brevity helps it avoid some issues common to the genre, it also lessens the impact it can have. Can the atmosphere conveyed through this presentation compete with your own imagination? The written word only translates so well in this medium. Still, the visuals complement it well (with a zoom option), the cast of narrators is varied and capable, and the HD rumble implementation is immersive.
Dagon: Complete Edition is an interesting experiment in interactive literary dissemination. Over the course of an hour and a half, we go through four short stories by H. P. Lovecraft recreated in three-dimensional settings, atmospheric narration, immersive sounds and explanations of the contexts surrounding the writings. Although the most control we have is to move the camera around to look around the subtle but unsettling environments, the whole thing is an immersive foray into dark territory that is worth a visit for those already familiar and for those who want a simple introduction to the territory of the patron saint of cosmic horror.

Dagon - Complete Edition is one of the best works that draw inspiration on the divisive author, even humanizing him and bringing curious details of his life, with jokes and hobbies with friends (without delving into his retrograde thoughts, though). Even with a somewhat disappointing sound direction, slow loadings and a rather abusive price[...], it's a nightmare that fans, both new and old, will want to revisit to feel the thrilling goosebumps.
