If you’re a fan of Tetris consider giving this title a look, I’m certain you’ll learn something and have some fun while you’re at it.
Just because you’re not good at the game doesn’t mean the game is bad, in fact I appreciate the work that the developer put in to ensure the spirit of the franchise is present, even if the gameplay is completely different.
As someone who had plenty of experience with M.A.M.E. (that’s Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator to you young’uns!) has a MiSTer, the Antstream service isn’t something I absolutely need. However if you are not interested in performing questionable legal activities, researching front ends…or gasp run command line (it’s been a while since I’ve used MAME, ok), Antstream is a perfectly fine off-the-shelf product to sate your retrogaming needs.
Much like the Sun will set one day, I’m sure the licensing agreement that brought this collection to us will certainly end. So if you truly are a fan of fighting games you owe it to yourself to secure this title, it’s worth every penny of its $49.99 asking price.
I had a fantastic time journeying through this fictitious Japan. While we might just be getting acquainted with Bakeru, back in his native land, he’s already received a manga adaptation, so I can definitely expect further adventures of this blue coiffed tanuki, let’s hope the title sells well in the West to warrant another romp here as well. If you enjoy platformers and you have an inkling of interest in learning more about Japan, BAKERU might be the perfect package for you!
For a first console development effort, Shift Up knocked it out of the park with Stellar Blade. They crafted a fascinating world, combat system that felt so good to the point where I would seek it out encounters unless I was running low on health items.
I know I really hammered on the Showcase mode, but I really did enjoy my time with WWE 2K24 as a whole, I just expected better from that mode especially based on its history. Regardless of that mode this is the definitive wrestling video game of this year or even the past five years!
Tekken 8 continues the fine balance of pulling up newcomers while catering to seasoned players. Despite a vocal minority already raising a stink about the game’s post launch plans, Tekken 8 is a fully featured game worthy of your money.
Infinite Wealth is a fully packaged title that fans of the franchise will be talking about for years to come. Players will certainly be able to enjoy Hawaii as well as spend time in familiar spots in Japan.
Despite rendering the value proposition of the Switch moot due to the fact you will need to play docked, the game’s variety in both content and visuals certainly makes up for it.
For fans who have enjoyed any of Kiryu’s adventures you owe it to yourself to take this one on as it further adds to the legend of the Dragon of Dojima.
RoboCop: Rogue City managed to be one giant leap in the right direction for a property that could never find a proper footing in the video game space. It worked extremely well as a bridge to the 2nd and 3rd films and managed to provide an action packed romp for someone who is looking for your usual power fantasy experience.
Buy it if you want to support the franchise, but if you’re looking for an enjoyable platformer there’s other options available out there.
Super Mario Bros. Wonder is definitely a timeless classic that will survive the test of time.
Despite the inevitable comparisons, Round8’s title stands on its own and can fill the void for those always beseeching a new entry of Bloodborne or at least a port to different platforms.
I did have a fun time with the title and hope that Secret Base can get a second crack at this IP, perhaps the Lees can call their toad buddies for another romp. They definitely did put an interesting spin on the beat’em genre with things like the increasing length and difficulty depending on the order of selection, the crowd control system and the rogue-like elements. If you’re a connoisseur of the beat’em up genre, these boys are on the rise and they’re definitely worth a playthrough.
Street Fighter 6 feels like a complete rehaul of the series.
Was this title worth the near-decade wait? Absolutely! Like a Dragon: Ishin! delivered on story, gameplay and replayability.
Stray didn't want to tell an epic tale spanning oceans, it didn't need towering bosses with glowing weak points to create the greatest tension. What it did do was weave a tale that the smallest creature can make the biggest difference and that despite our seat as the apex species, that perch is ever precarious, there's always something ready to take the spot and life will continue. It's certainly something that we need to be reminded of periodically.
