Critic Reviews for Poltergeist: A Pixelated Horror

What feels a lot like the spiritual successor to Haunting Starring Polterguy, Poltergeist: A Pixelated Horror is a clever puzzle game that puts players in the shoes of a ghost trying to scare away unwelcome guests. The gameplay may be simple, but the level design shines and the 16-bit visuals are charming. Glitchy Pixel's new game proves once and for all that it's more fun to be the ghost.

Ultimately, Poltergeist: A Pixelated Horror leaves some to be desired from a design perspective, but the puzzles and variety to solutions is fun, engaging, and difficult without being frustrating. Challenges present themselves in a nice, sequential order that builds upon itself level after level.

Poltergeist is a very fun puzzle game, that really taxes the brain muscles occasionally but it's all done in such a lovely way that you never want to give in. It's addictive, entertaining, and makes me want to be a ghost. Can I call it "spooktacular"? No, best not, I've got more class than that. Oh, screw it - SPOOKTACULAR!

Poltergeist: A Pixelated Horror is a functional and at times enjoyable puzzler with an interesting twist if you can look past its flaws. Those looking for more action to their ghost simulators, though, might be better off waiting for something else.

Poltergeist: A Pixelated Horror is a fun puzzle strategy game that would benefit from a bit of polish. Playing as a poltergeist and trying to scare people out of a house is an interesting concept for a puzzle/strategy game. It could probably only be recommended for those who really love the casual style puzzle/strategy games and find the idea playing the scary ghost fun. While there isn't really anything wrong with Poltergeist: A Pixelated Horror as a PC game, it would probably be better suited as a mobile game.
