The gore may be too extreme and nauseating at times, but the decent animations, nice-looking restaurants, and compelling narrative kept me pushing through to the last cuts. Ravenous Devils is unlike anything out there, and it won’t be for everyone, but there’s no denying that it’s a nicely made and oddly enjoyable experience.

Ravenous Devils is a delightfully macabre and in some ways original management system, inspired on the artistic front as well as retained on a playful level. The gaming system developed by Bad Vices Games is able to offer a galvanizing experience that unfortunately echoes a certain surrender, the daughter of a well-thought-out development that lacks ambition. It is as a whole a more than appreciable work if you love splatter tales in the style of Jack the Ripper.

Ravenous Devils offers a rather short and non-replayable experience for one or two nights, but at the right price. I would like to put a separate plus for the courage of the idea and concept. More entertaining than your average tycoon game, Ravenous Devils leverages a famous penny dreadful theme, namely Sweeney Todd, to give it a unique, dark tone. It’s a shame that this long pig pie is part-baked with a number of frustrating glitches that upsets its flavour. It also fails to turn its theme into anything mechanically interesting. Still, you’ll easily lose a few evenings to this game before its recipe becomes stale.

At a glance, Ravenous Devils immediately invokes images of the classic macabre tale of Sweeney Todd. The killing of innocent people in order to cook them into delicious meals for the unsuspecting public makes for a grim, disturbing and yet curious element in this horror cooking simulator. But is this more Demon Barber of Fleet Street, or Ramsey’s Kitchen Nightmares?
