Isonzo is a historically accurate WW1 shooter, with slow and long battles to conquer a few meters of the battlefield. Definitely an improvement over the previous games of the series, but it still needs some refinements and fixes, especially in balance and variety, to really be an unmissable game.

Massive respect for Blackmill Games & M2H, who went from Verdun and Tannenberg to this excellent authentic shooter. Having this slow-paced and realistic experience on Xbox is a welcome change from all the rush-and-win shooters.

World War I returns with the Italian theatre authentically recreated for some grounded, methodical FPS action. The real war was a grind and Isonzo maybe captures that feeling a little too well with a lack of variety in maps and modes, coupled with some major technical and visual issues. Even so, it’s an earnest effort that’ll draw in appreciators of history and those who like their FPS experiences to be more tactical and threatening than the Battlefield 2042s of the world.

Isonzo shouldn’t be overlooked, it’s the most beautiful and haunting World War I multiplayer game I’ve played. Each map is distinct from one another, and the careful selection of encounters highlights the trials and tribulations both sides faced during this two-year war. While there’s only six maps, they offer different approaches to offense and defense during the lengthy and endurance-style matches. Isonzo a historically accurate and deadly authentic multiplayer shooter that teaches you about the horrors of war as much as it entertains.
