Critic Reviews for Asterix & Obelix XXXL: The Ram From Hibernia

The Ram From Hibernia is a quite entertaining (but short) experience for younger audience, but it feels like another missed opportunity for OSome Studio to elevate this beloved franchise to an higher level of gameplay.

Yet another adventure by Asterix and Obelix published in recent years, yet another production that fails to take flight. Indeed, Asterix & Obelix XXXL: The Ram from Hibernia is perhaps the least successful production among those published by Microids focused on the famous Gallic duo.

If you love Asterix and Obelix, then Asterix & Obelix XXXL: The Ram From Hibernia is definitely a game for you … or if you're after a family friendly title, then The Ram From Hibernia will definitely keep everyone invested. All in all, an enjoyable title on the Xbox Series X that is also quite short that will keep the attention of younger gamers.

Asterix & Obelix XXXL: The Ram From Hibernia manages to be a fun, family friendly top-down beat ‘em up that will also make you laugh. The main things I hold against it is that there isn’t a lot of variety in the gameplay and it won’t last you more than a few hours most likely. I would personally wait on a sale to get this one as it is much easier to recommend for a lower price.

Even die-hard fans of the comic books should look elsewhere if they’re in the market for an Asterix game as Asterix & Obelix XXXL: The Ram From Hibernia just isn’t worth it. If you were to pick one of those up, I would probably point you to an earlier entry in the series, Asterix & Obelix XXL2: Mission Las Vegum, which was recently re-released on Switch and is all-around a much more well put together and fun game.

With Asterix & Obelix XXXL: The Ram From Hibernia, the XXL subsaga returns with a fourth installment that is very continuous with respect to the third installment. The great attraction of this fourth part is the multiplayer of up to four players, which is how you can get the most out of the title. It's not a bad game but we all thought that Slap them All! it was the way to go.

Asterix & Obelix XXXL: The Ram From Hibernia is an arcade title with a lot of action and many beatings to Romans that, although it can become repetitive in the long run, has very good ideas.

Asterix & Obelix XXXL: The Ram From Hibernia doesn’t do much to stand out. It can provide similar action to those that have already gone through all of the other Asterix and Obelix action games. Even then, those interested should consider a price drop from the current $30 price. For new players, one should, at minimum play Asterix and Obelix XXL Romastered and Asterix and Obleix XXL 2: Mission Las Vegum first before considering this spiritual sequel.
