BOOK OF HOURS is worth playing for its lovely design, soundtracks, puzzle-like gameplay, and all those stories that are hidden within. The narrative and all of the dialogue are so well-written that it never gets boring. If you happen to call yourself a CRPG fan, I guarantee that you would enjoy this game like I surely did.
Book of Hours, with its narrative and properly implemented story elements, is what a dedicated CRPG fan is looking for. It is not too excessive nor too flashy on the eyes. Simplistic design, loveable characters, a huge map to play on, and complete freedom of the protagonist allow the player to freely choose their own way of getting themselves back on track. Though its heavy focus on reading and “learning the mechanics is half the fun” design may put some players off, Book of Hours is a unique game that promises something few other titles can mimic. If you find yourself even a little intrigued by the unique, occult setting and the promise of mysteries to discover and catalog, you’d be making a mistake if you didn’t give Book of Hours a try.
