Hopefully Extremely Powerful Capybaras serves as a cautionary tale for developers who want to hit that 1.0 release as soon as possible. There’s no shame in publishing an Early Access game, in fact, it gives you a lot more leniency that a full release wouldn’t have otherwise.

Extremely Powerful Capybaras is not only a fun thing to say, but a fantastically fun thing to play too; a combat, and corresponding upgrade system, full to the brim with possibilities, merge with the sheer love poured into the title to create an experience, not without its flaws, yet so satisfyingly enjoyable.

An adorable Survivors-like that casts you as a capybara, Extremely Powerful Capybaras is fast-paced, frantic and downright fun. A few performance issues hold it back a little, but this is still a moreish roguelike you'll find yourself being drawn back to time and time again.

While it's impossible to recommend Extremely Powerful Capybaras over any of the giants in the genre, it could act as a competent "my first auto-roguelike-bullet heaven" game. It's light on content and the repetitive nature may grate on some, but the colourful art style and inclusion of co-op are a saving grace, and I could see if added to the rotation for family game night.

Extremely Powerful Capybaras is a cheerful but sloppy Vampire Survivors clone. The colorful style and co-op are fun, but bugs, lack of depth, and a weak console port make this capybara adventure too light and flawed.

Limited and buggy, Extremely Powerful Capybaras is the ugly cousin of Vampire Survivors that becomes tiresome long before it even provides minimal fun.

Though the game design is basic, Extremely Powerful Capybaras looks great. The animation is smooth and there are no bugs or frame rate issues. The world can be filled with enemies, but the game never stutters. Additionally, there are some nice minor tweaks to each stage to keep things interesting. The audio is loud, but it lacks originality. The soundtrack is good, and the sound effects are enjoyable. Yet, they are familiar and rarely stand out from the crowd. Playing this was a breeze. Dashing and automated combat ensure it is easy to handle. Moreover, a handy P1, P2, P3, and P4 helps to prevent confusion. I tackled every level and enjoyed unlocking the additional classes. However, I fear that others could find it repetitive and tiresome despite the inclusion of Frenzy difficulty settings. Extremely Powerful Capybaras is a great addition to the genre. The developer has added some nice lighthearted elements to an otherwise familiar genre. I loved the fun twist of capybaras instead of hulking warriors. Additionally, the ability to play with friends locally and online was great. Unfortunately, the unlockable skills and synergies were a little limited, and this holds it back. Accordingly, despite the shortcomings, I think it is great and I recommend buying it from the Xbox store.

Extremely Powerful Capybaras is an enjoyable co-op romp for up to 4 players, making for a chaotic but fairly stylish bullet heaven experience. Taken as a solo game or comparing it to its much more ambitious contemporaries, however, it does very little to stand out, and its basic gameplay doesn’t quite hold the depth necessary to warrant many repeat runs
