A few years have passed since the Deity of Sin's defeat. Despite a few small conflicts here and there, Gamindustri has remained peaceful, and all the CPUs have been living fun, carefree lives. Then one day, Neptune - the CPU of Planeptune - is swept away to another dimension by sheer happenstance. The new dimension she arrives in looks familiar, but this Gamindustri has a nostalgic 80s feel to it... She also learns upon her arrival that a mysterious group called "The Seven Sages" have cast an evil shadow over the lands of this other Gamindustri. Neptune's new journey to return home, as well as to protect this brand-new dimension, is just getting started...

Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth3 V Generation Reviews

[M]any of the same problems from the previous entries remain. Monster designs are recycled with a few additions. Combat can get somewhat repetitive and maps are reused constantly in which some of them reverse the direction that you approach it.

Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 3 is a solid game, and people who have been keeping up with the Re;Birth retellings of the series will want to see this installment. But, if someone has already played Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory, he or she could take a pass this time. There are new story and gameplay elements, sure, but not enough this time around to really set this entry apart.

In the words of Sadie: "I hurt you, I heal you, I hurt you again. That's the pattern." That is the best summary of Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth3: V Generation. It's following the pattern, and both the things that used to hurt and be wonderful remain the same. Those who were not already fans won't likely be charmed in by this one. Those who loved it will remain enthralled. It knows its strength, which is in its humour and characters, and doesn't even attempt to deviate from that path, for both the better and worse. It's a great title on the whole - just don't expect it to stray from the pattern.
