A damn fine 2D fighter sadly let down by a lack luster port job and online issues.

With a little more polish in its presentation, Arcana Heart 3: LOVE MAX!!!!! would have been a must-have addition to the slowly-increasing Steam library of fighting games. As it stands, this is a competent-yet-hardcore game that doesn't quite have the entry-level aspects of more modern fighters, but still possesses a lot of depth and variation that longtime fighting fans will eagerly lap up.

Arcana Heart 3: LOVE MAX!!!!! provides an enjoyable experience for the most part, but it's let down slightly by the storytelling side. Given the oversaturation of similarly styled fighters in the genre, it struggles to find its own identity, although fighting fans that enjoy a fast paced arcade style brawler could do much worse than picking up a copy of this. It might not stand out from the crowd, but it's very competently executed.

While 2D Fighters are not my forte I'll admit, Arcana Heart 3: Love Max!!!!! Is definitely enjoyable and with tons of extra content, it's definitely worth the money. Visually it looks fantastic, it's great to see sprites back in action, as the jump to 3D characters in other franchises has not always been a good thing. Having the option of a portable version is also a plus, as it's the kind of game you can pull out and play in short bursts.
