Neon Abyss 2 masterfully weaves in modifiers, meta-progression, and monstrous weapons for an extraordinarily enjoyable experience. On top of all of that, you've also got co-op, and a mass of mechanics that get added as you keep fighting through as well. This is a rogueliie for the ages, so don't miss out.
Whether you’re a solo runner stacking item combos or a four-person squad trying not to die in the same room, this sequel proves Veewo still knows how to blend absurdity and action into a satisfying loop.
Neon Abyss 2 is an unapologetically intense roguelike that cranks everything up from the first game. It adds an arsenal of wild weapons, evolving pet mechanics (Hatchmons), and a strategic Faith system that shapes each run. The new 4-player co-op mode injects pure multiplayer chaos, elevating the whole experience. Visually sharper and content-packed it’s a delirious, fast-paced explosion of color, combos, and challenge. However, it’s not for the faint-hearted: heavy RNG, overwhelming systems, and a brutal pace can frustrate. Some bosses feel reused, and the sheer volume of features might drown less experienced players. If you’re into hectic roguelikes with absurd build potential and nonstop action, Neon Abyss 2 is a wild, worthy ride. Just don’t expect mercy.

Neon Abyss 2 works best when you accept that its premise is much closer to playing with different combinations and becoming increasingly powerful than to facing a truly demanding challenge. If that idea sounds fun to you, you'll probably find it a very enjoyable experience.

A neon drenched, loud, frenetic good time. Neon Abyss 2 is yet another solid addition to the 2026 Game Pass Ultimate line up. Alas, there’s still a lot of room for polish, with the overall game balancing badly in need of an overhaul in its current state. Even so, I had far more fun than I was expecting and with some quality post launch support, this could absolutely end up being the rare roguelike I return to again and again.
Neon Abyss 2 delivers brilliantly on its promise of being an extremely chaotic and fun roguelike, featuring solid level design, a huge variety of possible builds that pair perfectly with its excellent controls and combat, characters with distinct gameplay mechanics and highly creative and challenging bosses, making it one of the biggest surprises of 2026.

Overall, I really enjoyed my time with Neon Abyss 2. It’s fun, easy to pick up and play, packed with progression systems to keep you hooked, and offers customization that lets you make runs as easy or as hard as you want. I would’ve loved more opportunities to build proper builds rather than mostly incremental upgrades each run, which could have added an extra layer of complexity that best-in-class games have.
