Critic Reviews for Tiny Bookshop

I often found myself going to put the game down before stopping myself to see what might happen the next day. Kind of like a great book.

It's heartwarming, it's comforting, and, if nothing else, it reminds us to slow down, breathe deep, and always take things one page at a time.

Tiny Bookshop is one of the best management games of the year, because there is no stress when it comes to running the store. You cannot fail, all the characters are friendly, and the vibes of the game are so laid back, you can spend hours in Bookstonbury without noticing. If you are a book lover, and even if you are not, Tiny Bookshop deserves your time.

Tiny Bookshop is a pretty standard business simulator at its core, but its little details and willingness to go beyond the basics are what make it special. You develop real bonds with your regular customers, get to know the tastes of certain areas, and really connect with the town of Bookstonbury. Full of charm, you’ll have a great time and get some fantastic book recommendations along the way.

Beyond my enjoyment of the game itself, Tiny Bookshop also reinvigorated my love of reading. The books on my in-game shelves reminded me of so many good titles I haven’t read in a while, and gave me the strong urge to pick up a book each time I concluded a play session.

A year after its release, Tiny Bookshop is still a breath of fresh air in the gaming world. The proposition is modest but satisfying in many ways. Neoludic proves that you don't need big effects or ultra-complex mechanics to be effective. Even though several aspects of the gameplay could stand to be a tad more refined to captivate us even further, the game is truly what you might call a gem to be savored in small doses—one you'll happily return to whenever you need a peaceful escape.
