Pure Pool Pro is a technical masterpiece in this genre. The moment you load up the game, you’ll see the strengths of the experience from the get-go. Exceptional presentation right across the board, deep focus on the mechanics of ball and cue movement makes for the most realistic pool simulation on the market today. The teams have taken on board lots of feedback so far and have been making fixes and tweaks consistently. Since I wrote my review for the Playstation 5 version, the game has seen the introduction of ranked mode with online leaderboards, allowing players to stay constantly competitive if they wish. Games If you’re into Pool or even Snooker, then I can highly recommend Pure Pool Pro, especially with a Snooker DLC very much in the works. So overall, if you’re looking for a pool simulation that nails the basics - physics, game types, controls - then Pure Pool Pro fits the bill. The on table action is great, I’ve had fun going up against the AI in competitive matches and I look forward to jumping online once there are others to play against. But a dull presentation - full of AI generated guff - lets the side down.
Pure Pool Pro is a technical knockout in the cue-sports genre. From the moment it loads, the polish shines. Ultra-realistic physics, obsessive attention to ball and cue behaviour, and presentation that is unmatched. The online scene could use a bit more competitive juice, but at the very wallet-friendly £19.99 (+20% off until Feb 26th), it’s an absolute steal. Our review was conducted on base PS5, but you can also pick it up now on Steam. Xbox players, hang tight, it’s coming soon. Pure Pool Pro doesn’t just pot balls; it sinks the competition with style. For someone that hasn’t played any sort of pool game in forever, Pure Pool Pro is a simple game to learn and play. It offers a variety of game types and modes, as well as difficulties and cosmetics customizations to unlock. Despite lack of a more apparent chance at failure for precisely-lined shots, and a game world the could feel a bit more complete, it is very deserving of the Thumb Culture Gold Award.
