inKONBINI: One Store. Many Stories Reviews
inKONBINI is a rather short and sweet narrative adventure game that delivers a warm, heartfelt story that can hit a bit close to home. Charming visuals, a chill soundtrack, and an endearing plot that is just the right amount of intriguing. While it feels too brief to truly stand out, it nevertheless is a memorable journey best done over afternoon tea.
On paper, InKonbini : One Store. Many Stories was supposed to work for me. Everything is there : the visuals, the mechanics, the focus into the psychology of the different characters and how they’re all linked together, …And yet … Yet, the experience that I have of this game is the kind that one can feel while hearing one of its favorite songs and perceiving through it all a form of … discordance ? A form of distance that wasn’t expected. Like missing a beat in a melody you thought you knew by heart. InKONBINI: One Store. Many Stories didn’t do it for me. It happens. Now, it’s only up to you to figure out if you could follow the tempo of life evolving inside that store, and enjoy your time there. Of course, I suggest you use the full capacity of the demo to test it out and don’t hesitate to share your thoughts with us !
InKONBINI is a gem to play because it blends its 90s aesthetics and vibes, cozy simulation gameplay, and story beats meticulously well like fine cup ramen with seaweed and cold Boss canned coffee. [...] InKONBINI represents the famous Japanese term "natsukashii" in interactive video game form, perfectly capturing that part of the 90s in a subsection of Japanese culture while also putting you in the shoes of someone in that era to a tee.
inKONBINI: One Store, Many Stories is a wonderfully chill slice of life game that cares about community and small moments. It's a charming and relaxing experience that's full of heart.
A delicious slice of life, inKONBINI is a lovely experience that will leave you with a smile as big as Makoto’s after she hands a customer their change.
inKonbini: One Store. Many Stories is a beautifully chill and heartfelt game that really teleports you to a whole different time and place. The many small stories that customers pull you into are wonderful, while the gameplay is as satisfying as it gets. Outside of some typos and grammatical issues that are spread throughout, this is easily one of my favorite games of 2026 so far.
While making sure that every item is in its correct location, balanced perfectly, and faced in the correct way; a tedious yet relaxing task, zoned out as if in a meditative state, and lost in your own thoughts, time stops. While you’re absorbing all the stories and requests your customers have, arriving one at a time, indulging in their lives, your outlet to the outside world, nothing else matters. inKONBINI is a reverie, a narrative driven game that needs some engagement, but only asking from you what you want to give it. It nails the very atmosphere of a quiet, slow, nighttime 1993 experience. While its stories could be better delivered through voiced dialogue, it’s an experience I would highly recommend if you are looking for a reverie.
