Sephiria is great, I can't stop thinking about my next run if that's any indication to you. Whilst the bosses could be better, they're not a dealbreaker as the rest of the combat is excellent. Whilst there are a lot of roguelites around these days, this is definitely one of the better ones.
Sephiria is a lovely little surprise. It takes the familiar action roguelite structure and gives it a clever inventory system that genuinely affects how you approach each run. The combat is simple but satisfying, the weapon variety gives you room to experiment, and the progression keeps giving you reasons to return to Bunnyville and have another go. The boss fights are my biggest complaint, mainly because some of them feel unnecessarily padded, but that didn’t stop me from enjoying the overall experience. There’s also something wonderfully ridiculous about watching a tiny bunny battle its way through a dungeon with a gigantic sword. It’s cute without being completely fluffy, strategic without becoming overwhelming, and straightforward enough to dip into whenever you fancy another run. If you’re looking for a new roguelite to disappear into for a while, Sephiria is well worth hopping into.
Crafting every single detail to perfection, Sephiria comes out of Early Access an instant winner. Not only are its builds fun to discover, but so is cracking the code of its ingenious inventory management. That feeling of “one more run” takes on a whole new meaning when playing with friends. All in all, every system converges to deliver one of the best roguelites of the year.
There’s a wealth of fun ways to play the game, an extremely inventive and rewarding inventory management system, and with the option now to play through it with friends, I can see Sephiria taking a firm place in many friend groups looking for a new tightly crafted game night experience. Whether you’re diving down into the tower on your own or with fellow bunnies, foxes, or wolves, you’ll be clambering to venture down the moment you’re revived again; stronger, smarter, and excited for your next attempt.
