Speedrunners 2: King of Speed Reviews
SpeedRunners 2: King of Speed brings back a great game idea, but falls short visually. While the new maps aren't particularly cool and the new powers aren't fun, this would all go unnoticed because the game's concept itself is already very entertaining. However, the lack of visual clarity in several aspects affects the gameplay. SpeedRunners did everything well through its simplicity, making everything clear and unconventional. In SpeedRunners 2: King of Speed, the need to replicate the effects, brightness, and colors of the game's elements makes the experience somewhat worse. Unfortunately, it's impossible not to compare the games. As I said before, it's still a very fun game, but in trying to modernize the visuals, it's clear that less is more.
SpeedRunners 2: King of Speed delivers frantic and unpredictable multiplayer races where precise movement, clever shortcuts and chaotic power-ups can turn victory into defeat in seconds. Its solid online features and demanding level design make every match exciting, although the experience relies heavily on human opponents and remains fairly close to the original formula.

Speedrunners 2: King of Speed retains all of the qualities that the previous game mastered, but it hasn’t really evolved much either. But for serious fans, that probably won’t matter much. Replayability is there, with online multiplayer staying pretty active and the game available on Xbox Game Pass, which should boost server numbers. With cross-platform multiplayer also a feature, it should have good longevity for a good while, yet let’s just hope the developers at tinyBuild Games don’t leave it too long before the next one. Although SpeedRunners 2: King of Speed remains truthful to its predecessor, it relies on it a little too much. The core, fun gameplay is still there, but so are many of characters and maps. While it tries to modernize the classic formula of the original, it fails on the new additions it brings.

Ultimately, Speedrunners 2: King of Speed is more excellent gameplay buried beneath a collection of unnecessary additions. The classic competitive platforming is still fantastic, and if all you want is more Speedrunners but prettier, then there is absolutely fun to be had here. It’s just a shame that so much of the new content feels like it distracts from, rather than improves upon, what made the original such a brilliant little multiplayer game in the first place.
