Eisenhorn: XENOS
Critic Reviews for Eisenhorn: XENOS
Story can’t be the thing that carries a video game and story is all Eisenhorn: XENOS has. A character as powerful as Gregor Eisenhor, with a great voice actor in Mark Strong, and an epic story deserves more than a glorified version of a mobile game. But brainless combat and mechanics, crummy audio, and unacceptable bugs keep this game to no more than a book promotion.
Simple combat, poor mechanics, boring voice acting and some unpolished graphics mean that the fans of the book series might find themselves struggling to finish it. For those without an invested interest in the character or the story: this is one to avoid.
The game probably would have benefited by just being a mobile game, as it does not stand well in what is expected from a PC game, but there are still design choices which come into question anyways. It does not take full advantage of what the narrative has to offer, and while it is limited by it, the game still is a mess of various ideas. If you want to experience the story of Eisenhorn that badly, this might be for you, but it is not going to win any new customers for Games Workshop’s beloved franchise.
Even with an interesting story and characters, Eisenhorn fails in every other aspect.
