Laser Disco Defenders is an enjoyable game yet it suffers from bland environments and repetitive gameplay.

Final Thoughts The graphics are great, and I really liked the 1970’s art style! Those of you who manage to finish the main campaign will unlock an endless mode as a reward, offering you more content to enjoy. I was really tested by this game for my Laser Disco Defenders review, especially with its trophy list – which, unfortunately, does not include a Platinum trophy.

Laser Disco Defenders plays like a good arcade game with some hidden depth. The bouncing lasers alone change the game's approach from a mindless shooter to one that requires some real thought in planning your attack. The randomly generated levels and bonus equipment help, and the presentation is nice, but it is really that one change that sells the game outright. Laser Disco Defenders may be a game that you can tackle in an afternoon, but you will want to revisit it often.

Stayin’ alive is the name of the game—a goal that quickly becomes tedious thanks to an amalgam of frustrating visuals and a small arsenal of options.

If you are a fan of shoot ’em up or bullet hell style games, I would recommend Laser Disco Defenders to you. It adds some interesting mechanics to the genre and has a very wacky premise. While the game is not as memorable as I would have like, and can be too difficult at times, it is still unlike any other game of this style that I have played before.  Even though the game may not stick with me as long as one could, it manages to be something original in such a crowded genre of games, which is very impressive.

Laser Disco Defenders is missing a lot of components from being a phenomenal game or even a fantastic top down shooter. Some of the groundwork laid by the developers leaves room for excitement, but there just isn’t enough carefully crafted content to back up the solid mechanics. It’s a dance which ends too soon, and it comes as a hard recommendation.

Laser Disco Defenders does what it sets out to do and more. A bullet-hell shooter with an emphasis on hell, this title is definitely worth defending.

Laser Disco Defenders is very addictive and a lot of fun. A single run in story mode will keep you busy for a bit as you retry over and over again after being defeated. Every time you lose you learn something, and unlocking new accessories will give you and advantage over your enemies in subsequent runs. If you’re looking for an arcade-style release on PS4 and Vita – and a cross-buy one – then you should definitely give Laser Disco Defenders a try!

Laser Disco Defenders is no doubt fun. The gimmick of constant laser chaos and its skill-based focus will be fresh to many players jumping into this genre, or to those tired of the pain caused by RNG based titles. However, the truth here is that far better titles exist and have greater variety and depth within their levels and upgrades, which are the essence of any game built for replayability.
