Critic Reviews for Tiles

Diminutive in scope but with plenty of content, this could be a welcome change from your daily crossword or sudoku.

Tiles is one of the most mentally satisfying puzzle games to release in a while, at least in terms of the single-player. The multiplayer mimics all the levels from the single-player, to the point where they unlock at the same rate. This lack of variety means playing together will have one person, the one who plays the game more, at a clear advantage. There's a simple fix for that if it bothers you. Don't play the multiplayer. Enjoy the ingenious single-player mode, because it's a fantastic experience in every right.

Price-wise you're getting a great deal for the amount of content on offer on Tiles, so if you're looking for a fun puzzle game with simple gameplay mechanics to understand and a nice difficulty curve that won't overwhelm you. As long as you're patient and good with puzzle games, then you're going to have a good time with this one. Something else I wanted to mention is that the game features cross-play with its PC version, so you can play puzzles that have been created by PC players, and the puzzles you create will be playable to those on PC an PS4, which is definitely a nice feature.

Despite both simplistic design and idea behind the game, Tiles is a great puzzle game that relays on our quick thinking and nimble fingers. In the game you can play on levels created by developers or download one of many user-created levels. Tiles starts easy to show us the game, but ends really demanding and sometimes infuriating.

Tiles is a simple puzzle game yet it also gets pretty frustrating and annoying (in a good way!) like all the best puzzle games do. I would have prefered the option to take it on-the-go on the Vita, but the aesthetic doesn't look bad on a TV and the game works perfectly. The times to beat do seem a little unfair but they can also be seen as a challenge as if you can beat all the times then you surely have the fastest fingers in the West!
