Critic Reviews for Forts
Forts is a fun 2-D RTS with some interesting new mechanics thrown in. It suffers from a few bugs and an unnecessary story, but is generally an entertaining experience.
Forts' multiplayer is enjoyable, as trying to scramble to design the best tower and destroy your friends is every gamer's truest of dreams. The single-player is pretty fun, too, if not for the sometimes stupid, sometimes brilliant AI, and the wonky physics. By all means, buy it for the single-player. Just make sure you have friends, because you're going to need them to truly appreciate this game.
Forts is a simple game with some complex mechanics in it. The game is hard and not forgiving which is both good and bad. You will find this game challenging and frustrating at times, especially on the higher difficulties. It’s a nice spin on the Base Building genre set, and the amusing social commentary helps to make it a welcome challenge. The campaign was short, and seemed mainly a stepping stone to understand the game flow for multiplayer. Pick this game up if you are into the base building genre, or are looking for a fun game to play with friends that doesn’t involve a ton of time to invested.
There’s plenty to enjoy about Forts, and as someone who doesn’t typically immerse themselves in RTS games I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the moment to moment action of the game. Add excellent gameplay, with a simple hook, with amusing dialogue, enjoyable punchlines and exciting competitive multiplayer all together and you get an incredibly attractive option.
